run msconfig and uncheck anything (on the startup tab) you don't want running. When windows is installed, I think it's empty. So windows doesn't need any of them to run.
I usually go through the process and google the ones I don't recognize. You should be able to find every one of them.
You can disable a boatload of unnecessary services. I have
mine down to 14 services running@ desktop idle. I have the printer on my
wifes PC so i don't have the spooler running, or any of the other "printer
bloat". Black Viper's website had all the services, and which were needed
or not. His site has been down for a few months, but majorgeeks.com has
posted his guide for XP Pro. Check it out.
