Ok, so I'm planning to maybe get r9 270x or GTX 760. Geforce website says they both require 500w PSU minimum, so I know that I need 500w PSU. But what I'm worried about is all the wires and everything. How do I find out what wires and connectors PSU needs to have? And is there anything else I need to know besides wires and amount of w?

I have:
Asrock H61M-VS mobo
Kingston 8GB, DDR3, 1600MHz RAM
Core i5-3470
Either one r9 270x or one GTX 760
One 80GB HDD
One thingamajig where you put a CD in to play it

I think that's about it.

Please tell me what wires do I need and how to fidn out what wires do I need. Also please suggest 500w PSUs. I don't need anything fancy just as much as necessary to run my system safely without it exploding or anything. The cheaper PSU the better tho.

Sounds very fancy. Is there maybe something just as good but with less popular brand for lower price? And it's 550w, I don't think I need these extra 50w, do I?

Never cheap out on your power supply. A good brand is key.

Yea but I don't wanna overpay just for the name. It happens often that big name companies take more money just for the name when just as good small ones can not afford that cos they are not so popular, so you may end up paying more for nothing.

+1 on this!

Don't make the mistake on cheaping out on a good PSU. Many cheap PSU's will not only crap out but some of them causes premature failure on hard drives, videocards, ect... you can get the best performance from a good quality PSU as well. Besides getting a good motherboard you want the best PSU. The forum might be able to help you find some deals on good quality PSU's. You could look for a cheaper PSU but if you plan on keeping this PC for the long haul, i'd recommend getting a good PSU for it.

I can't even find it anywhere online in my country in first place. If it's so rare then if I find it it will prolly be very overpriced here like all the rare stuff is. Any more suggestions?

Ok, ok... =/

I got another question then. When new Maxwell 860 comes out what do you think would be a PSU w req for it? I mean if it's very low like Maxwell are hyped up to be I might just wait and get it instead of 760 + new PSU, basically putting PSU price into new card instead and keeping my current PSU. What do you think?

Age is around 2 years, more or less. Might be a little over one, I don't remember when I bought my system exactly. About brand I have no clue. It's either 400w or 450w tho, I'm not sure.

You'll want to find out what brand of PSU you have and check out the link that bignastyid posted. If it's not on that list or is a tier 5 i'd be very careful. Wattage doesn't really matter, it's just the amount of load the PSU can handle and generally tier 4 and 5 (unlisted is not recommended either) won't deliver the proper wattage. But if your currently using it and don't have any glitches or any problems with the PC then it should be ok..
