I have been looking for a psu for my new build. I know i need around 450w but im not sure what psu to get. I want it to be as cheap as possible and good as I am hoping to sell the system to a friend. This is the build so far
Intel Core i5 2400
Asus Z68 ATX Motherboard
Nvidia GeForce GTX 550ti reference card
2 case fans
1TB SATA Hard Drive
DVD/RW Optical Drive
Im in the UK as well so I cant buy off newegg :(

Solution

The OCZ CorexStream 500w has a combined 45 Amps on it's 12v rails which isn't bad. (2 - 12v rails)
The OCZ StealthXStream 2 (500w) has 36 Amps. (2 - 12v rails)
The Coolermaster GX Lite (500w) has 36 Amps. (1 -12v rail)
You'll find that the Amps are what's important. Multiple rails are also a plus.

Try this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMPSU-500CXV2UK-Builder-Series-CX500V2/dp/B005851O16/ref=sr_1_26?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333974124&sr=1-26
or at least get a "good" name brand - Antec - corsair - OCZ -etc. (at least it you want to keep your friend). :)

So is the XFX as good as the two OCZ's because they are a lil bit cheaper.

The XFX has a single rail with 34 Amps. (1-12v rail)
Like I stated the Amps are whats important and multiple rails are usually better. Seasonic like OCZ is a "good" name PSU and if it made the XFX I imagine the quality would be good. Specification wise I'd prefer the higher Amps/Rails of the OCZ's.

I would hope CWT is not THAT bad, Corsair uses those for the higher end HX power supplies as well.
Many of the OCZ's are FSP based, some people do not like FSP, but i have never had a problem with them.

Specifications
◦AC Input 230Vrms, 5A, 50Hz
◦Output Voltage +3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2 -12V +5VSB
◦Max. Load 24A 15A 25A 20A 0.3A 2.5A
Max. Combined 120W 444W 3.6W 12.5W
◦Total Output 500W

37 amps

It is hard to have 45 amps @ 12 volts on a 500 watt power supply... very good catch Delluser1.

45*12=540

So is the Stealth better than the Core as the Stealth is coming tommorow and I could easily trade it for rhe XFX or Core.

But the XFX is probably better quality though as it it as rebranded Seasonic and a Seasonic in build 3 and it has been the most reliable psu. The OCZ Core I still don't know about as its not 80+ and I cannot find anything on it and the XFX shouldmbe fine for the build as 450w is probably perfect for the gtx550ti

With hardwarecanucks.com having your card with a faster cpu they only pulled 262(anand got to 275) watts. So yeah, i think you are good :)

....and yes Seasonic power supplies ARE better then FSP(i almost guess that anything in the ...Xtreme line are FSP based units.)

Either way, I personally have had good luck with BOTH companies power supplies in the past.

The XFX looks to have 34 Amps(408watts).

It is hard to find info on both units. Many power supplies go under a slightly different number in different parts of the world. Just adds confusion for nothing.
