Hello there I've just bought a dell optiplex 990 i7, 8gb ram, 1tb storage and I have a gtx 1050ti I was wondering what power supply I need to buy to run the 1050 and the rest of the pc.

What does it have in it now? GTX1050Ti isn't hugely power hungry it may just work.

If you want something that can take a beating and you can re-use a few years from now, something like an EVGA, Corsair, Seasonic 500W or more bronze will do.

On sale at the moment:

The 990's use standard ATX connections, so no proprietary connections - which is good.

Assuming you bought the mid-tower option? I believe there was a small form factor variant, which could complicate matters...

If you bought the mid-tower, then standard ATX PSUs are compatible & will fit the case.
Assuming you're in the UK, based on your username.... So you're looking at 40-50quid for a solid PSU.

Realistically, a quality ~350W unit would be more than sufficient for that setup, but not too many units of good quality exist (for reasonable prices) in the <400W range.

I'd look to either of these 3, favouring the CX550 though.

That is a tad low with an i7, and it is going to be decently old at that. A new PSU is a good idea.

Any of the above will work. I recommend over-spending a little on the PSU, good ones will last 7-10 years, so by the time this old Optiplex can't cut it anymore you won't have to go out and buy another.

For the components you're running, it should work, yes. But it's not a "good" PSU by any stretch.

It'll be fine for what you're running, it's not a fire hazard or anything, but don't bank on being able to reuse it for a new build in future.
Any of the units I listed could be reused for 5+ years, assuming you're not running ridiculously power hungry components..... that 500W EVGA unit has a 3 year warranty for a reason, it's built down to a pricepoint.

Well this is my first pc so if I deside pc gaming is for me then I will be more willing to save even more money, this is a buget build, but I will most lightly get a better psu further down the line but until then since this won't by by only pc I think it is a quite good first pc.

While they're not great units, they're not going to damage anything.

FWIW, you can actually get the 600W unit from Scan for about the same price, shipped.

Omg my dude but is scan a reputable company that's the question because if it is the pc master race community is the best, I was just looking on websites I trust.

Found a better replacement power supply don't need to replace anything else.
