What Ram for E4400 , 4CoreDual-VSTA aiming for stable 3Ghz ?

I want to keep my AGP card, but get a E4400 and this seems like the best
mobo for me

This and the E4400 should be available in April- Hopefully...

What RAM would you recommend to shoot for a stable 3Ghz.
I thought for gaming, the C2D runs about the same FPS for
DDR and DDR2, but don't know what would help getting
the overclock and be most stable. This mobo can use
DDR or DDR2.

Also, what multiplier would be used?

I guess the FSB would be 300Mhz

It depends what the specs for the E4400 are. I'd expect it'd have a 10x multiplier to keep the 200mhz fsb of the E4XXX series which would mean you only need an FSB of 300 to get ~3ghz so DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) would be sufficient with some easy OC headroom for an extra 300mhz or so.

Why would you want to run a C2D at 3GHz and use 667MHz RAM? Isn't that self defeating?

I did some researching.

Im in the same predicament.

This motherboard hits a 291MHz FSB wall. So the following research should help clarify.

The e4300 got up to 2.91GHz with 330MHz, something this motherboard cannot achieve. But the E4400 reached the same speed with just 293MHz FSB. Obviously since this motherboard only reaches 291MHz, this would be the appropriate choice.

I think Ill definately wait for the E4400 since Wikipedia says itll launch for $130 on April 22. Vey very nice. Cant wait.

I dont know about krustybarthomer, but I just spent $220 on a PowerColor X1950 Pro AGP card. Reason was I didnt have the money to buy new motherboard, new memory, new CPU, new Hard Drive(needed it), and the card.

I decided to get that card and a 500GB HD cause those were the obvious choices to boost my performance cheaply and quickly. Now, with this motherboard, I can keep my card for a very long time since I should see some decent overclocking with this thing. I should atmost hit the 2.91GHz mark, which is more than enough for me.

As for your memory situation. I really do not know what memory you should get. The motherboard only supports upto DDR2-667, and since the FSB only reaches 291MHz, I doubt youll need anything higher. I could be wrong, and it would be great to find out, most definately.
