The i5 2400 is a different socket than the C2D e7400. You would have to get a newer motherboard as well.

Mine's a Core 2 Duo, I checked the benefits of quad over duo and it's higher so I don't know oof ;-;Gpu for now because you might need to upgrade motherboard and since you said you are on a tight budget i think the gpu is what you should go for
