What size motherboard do you prefer for your future CPU?

The answer to your question is it depends on the intended use - gaming rig, home theater pc, home office, network, mainstream applications, professional work, server. It may also depend on how much space is available for a pc.

I just built a brand new system for professional work. I chose a standard atx motherboard for my Intel Core i7 860 system.

Good point, but I'm just trying to get a general feeling for what people prefer...
Unless I was mounting the case in a weird place, I'd prolly choose ATX every time just to have a decent amount of slots etc that are not present with matx...
