Currently I have an old system that I built 3 to 4 years ago. It consists of :
MB - Asus A8N5x Socket 939
Processor - AMD Athlan 3200 2.02 GHz
Video - NVIDEO GEOFORCE 8500GT
RAM - 2 GB
I know that socket 939s are outdated, but I am also on a shoe string budget of $450.
So instead of upgrading the whole system goign to the enxt level of AM2 or Am3, I was looking at upgrading to:
$160.00 Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.4GHz socket 939 (toledo core)
$145.00 Video - Sapphire 100258-1GL Radeon HD 4850 1GB PCI Express 2.0x16
$120.00 RAM - 4GB
For these upgrades, would it just be better for me to go buy a whole new low end AM2/AM3 MB, Processor and RAM? Or should I just stay with the Socket 939 setup and go with these mentioned upgrades? That is I want to maximize perfomance for games like WoW while not exceed my price limit of $450. Currently, WoW runs like crap for me with the setup I have currently
