what wattage psu will i need?

with this MOBO and these specs what wattage PSU would i need to power a new gfx i listed below
whats inside now currently

GIGABYTE GA-B85M-D3H Intel B85 (Socket 1150) Micro-ATX Motherboard

Processor: Intel© Quad Core™ i5-4440 (6M Cache, 3.1GHz)

Coolermaster 500W PSU

Operating System: Windows 8.1

Hard Disk: 1TB

Memory: 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz

considering the 270x or 280x Sapphire Dual-X OC Radeon

a good 600W power supply would be fine. However, unless you are completely strapped why not get a good 750w PSU? It leads you to having more options moving forward.

If you are thinking of upgrading your PSU at all to get a new VC you should consider a GTX 970. It is going to be in the same ballpark money wise and would run on your 500W PSU. In addition, has significantly more power than either...


thanks im willing to upgrade the PSU but will a Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU cut it or should i go to a 750w maybe i can not decide
