I was looking to upgrade my computer recently to a gtx 1080 ti and was wondering if any of my other parts will not work with the 1080 ti or will not give the best performance of it.

The important parts of My PC:

Intel i5 7400 - 3.00GHz - Quad Core
8GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GTX 1050 3GB GDDR5 PCI-E [Want to upgrade to 1080 Ti]
120GB SSD

Not important but 1TB Storage

Could you help me and see if any of these parts would slow down or not make the 1080 ti give its best performence.

Also im willing to get suggestions on what i would need to upgrade and what i should do next. Thanks!

The power supply is possibly the single most important component you will need to make sure the 1080 Ti runs in your system.

Also,

Your CPU will hold back the 1080 Ti in some games. Your RAM would hold you back in some games.

What resolution and refresh rate is your monitor? A GTX 1080 Ti is overkill for 1920x1080.

What power supply do you have? You will want at least good quality 550W.

Do you really have the 3GB GTX 1050? That just came out and is rather interesting.

If you are willing to spend the money on a 1080 Ti then you should be willing to spend the money on an i7-7700, 16GB RAM, and a good high resolution, high refresh rate monitor.

Otherwise, a GTX 1070 or 1070 Ti might be a better option for your system.

Sorry to bother you again but would a 600 W power supply be able to handle 16gb of RAM , An intel i7-7700K and a 1080 ti?

My setup will be beastly in a few months time, Thanks to you!

Possibly. What exact PSU? 600W means it could be an older design and possibly lower quality. 550W or 650W would be better.

The PSU im looking at is a EVGA 600 B1, 80+ BRONZE 600W - Power Supply 100-B1-0600-K3

That is a very budget, lower quality PSU. Not something I would pair with a GTX 1080 Ti.

Not exactly recommended, but budget units that meet the minimum requirements and would be safe to use and better than the EVGA 600B. https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/nB3RsY,3hkwrH,FdRFf7,3F2rxr/

Seriously, a GTX 1080 Ti is an expensive and power hungry part. I would very much encourage you to spend the extra money on a high quality power supply.

*I would say if you need to go with a cheaper PSU, go with a cheaper GPU also. GTX 1070 Ti woud be better to pair with one of the cheaper PSUs mentioned above.

Just found out that my PSU can supply up to 600 W, Would i need to upgrade that to run a 1080 ti ?

If you're referring to the 600B, it can supply enough power for a 1080 Ti system. But the thing to notice is the low quality components that the unit is made with. The more power you draw on those cheap units, the quicker and more likely they are to fail.

If you're willing to spend the money on a GTX 1080 Ti then you should be willing to spend the money on a good quality power supply. Otherwise, downgrade the GPU to something less power hungry and even then maybe use the saved money to buy a better power supply so you don't run in to the same situation in the future.

EVGA B1 series is great for office and budget gaming builds. Not so good for high-end gaming systems.
