so, I just sat down to read this entire hysterical thread that exploded at lightspeed compared to Snookims' flaming thread. I have a couple of things I want to point out.

1) when Fugger posted the link about Matisaro jumping on his case without provocation (after Matisaro said he never does that), the link he posted did indeed have Matisaro jumping on his case sans provocation. Further, if you check earlier in this thread, the only reason Fugger's posting here is because Eden brought him up and flamed him without provocation. No matter what he said about his 3dmark2001 scores, I can't think of anyone short of Kennyshin and AMDMeltdown who deserves to have a patrol of people constantly on alert for opportunities to flame him.

2) however, Fugger, I'm guessing you just misspoke when you blatantly bragged. You got caught giving the wrong specs for your score, even if you weren't lying. There's only one thing 3dmark2001 really tells: whether you're a good overclocker. If you've got a stock everything, chances are you'll hit just about exactly where everyone else with a stock everything hits. (For instance, I just have a Dell pIII (forgive me. I was young and foolish.) and when I compare my score to those of other pIIIs, people with a geforce3 (like mine) come out at 113% because the average for that card is increased by overclockers. If you had shown up and said "I overclocked the hell out of everything." you'd have been right and it would have been an accomplishment. You didn't, though. Deal.

by the way, to my knowledge, ATI has always had the unfortunate position of releasing nice hardware just before nVidia releases something even better, rather than creating an actual competitive market. this is possibly because nVidia holds back on projects until the competition catches up to increase individual product revenue, but not necessarily. nVidia DOES, after all, release new stuff every 6 months like clockwork. it's more likely that nVidia just steps it up a notch every 6 months and ATI won't get it through their heads to properly time a release.
