I have a hp 8200 compaq sff and the onboard graphics suck. I want to know if a GTX 660 or maybe even a 980(even less likely 980ti) would fit

Hardware: Core i5 2100 3.1Ghz
4GB ddr3
250 hard drivd
Os: windows 10

A range of 175mm or less cards from Gigabyte and Zotac, who both do lines in mini cards - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#X=100,922204&sort=-rating&l=69000000,175000000&R=5,4&m=18,40

If it has to be low profile, this seems to be one of the best lp cards available - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/zggPxr/msi-geforce-gtx-1050-2gb-low-profile-video-card-gtx-1050-2gt-lp

The latter link's card is ahead of the GTX 660, but not the 980. If you can fit the Zotac or Gigabyte cards, the 1060s are closer to the 980, and the 1070 from the list is similar to the 980ti.

Edit: None of that takes into account wattage requirements.

The PSU will play a large part here, as will the physical size limitation.

I believe the SFF variant is limited to low profile cards, typically denoted "LP", and your PSU is probably <250W.... and quite a few years old.

A 660 and 980 are off the table as is.

You should be ok with 75W GPUs, like a 1050TI/1050/750TI..... but depending on how well that PSU has held up, you may has some issues there (technically, they call for a 300W PSU).

Something like a GT1030 would be a solid step up from the iGP, and would allow to do some reasonable gaming too....
