Question What's the normal CPU temperature for i9 - 9900k?

Hello! :)

I'm a complete noob, just built my first gaming pc.

So the BIOS shows me the CPU temp was 30 C, then it slowly went up to 33 C. And after a BIOS update it stays at 40 - 43 C while the system temp was around 40 C.

I got a liquid cooler and all the fans were running "smart fan mode," so is this normal for an i9 CPU while not gaming?

Thanks in advance!

This is what the cooler's seller said:"Any i9 should be more than sufficiently cooled with this cooler. If you'd like to overclock and possibly maintain lower temperatures then I'd have to recommend a H115i Pro RGB or Platinum or even a H150i Pro RGB." 😑

So I assume it won't be overheating...but probably not going to maintain a low temperature.

My i9900k with a basic AIO cooler runs 34c at idle in a 29c cabinet with cabinet fans.... running a ZCPU stress I can get it to pop to 115c but it's brief and never gets that high during normal use...

At 115c the CPU should be throttling and or shutting down the PC immediatly to prevent damage.

It is possible to change that setting in the BIOS of some motherboards to whatever you like. 115c is definitely pushing it though. Mine definitely throttles at 100c. My motherboard has that user setting but I left stock. No Intel processor is rated for over 105c & Core I9 9900K is definitely rated for 100c max.

I have mine liquid cooled & with all core boost of 5.0GHz with hyperthreading active hovers at 85-86c on CPU-Z stress test. This is in a somewhat warm room so would likely be cooler if run in a room that was the bog standard test temperature of 22c called for when doing tests in a controlled environment. Ran it for several minutes & temperature did not change beyond bouncing between 85-86c. I use an Enermax Liqmax2-240mm AIO cooler with 2 Corsair ML120 fans. These move more air than Enermax's stock fans.
