Well, unfortunately setting Shader Cache to On in the AMD GPU panel doesn't fix the texture flickering in Mankind Divided like I'd hoped. However I am now using the Windowed Borderless Gaming tool to play in borderless windowed mode, and it seems to have mostly removed it, except for Jensen's face in the Aug menu. This game's fun, but a real work in progress for me graphically.

As long as I respect the VRAM limitations of my 3GB GPU and keep graphics at High, I have no CPU related problems, which usually would come in the form of stuttering, which I have no problem with. I'm using a i7-950 at stock. Some people insist Nehalems can't handle today's games, but that is total BS.

Last night I searched for launch options that might help, since I suspected the launch screen window may have been the culprit of my texture flickering. That's because the game reverts to pretty much launch screen size when you Alt+Enter, which fixes the flickering, until it starts up again.

I found that the game has a -benchmark launch option, which disables both the intro and the launcher. I have now played two fairly long sessions with no texture flickering since using it.

I've recently been playing the PC release of the first dead rising game. I remember really feeling like this was a true "next gen" game when it first came out on the 360 in 06 and I remember really enjoying it, although I actually never finished the game. So now I plan on playing through the whole thing and doing as many of the quests as I can and it's been pretty fun. The new one looks alright but i'll play through the others before I give that one a shot.

I just built a new high end gaming PC and I've been goin' buck wild with games to see what they look like with ultra graphics settings at 60+ FPS. So far Fallout 4 looks pretty good but last night I stole a mini sub in GTA V and the under water effects were simply amazing. I did this mission on my Xbox 360 and the difference were night and day. Also want to give a shout out to Banished; my all time favorite "kick back and chill" game. It's so much nicer than a lot of other city building sim games because it cuts out a lot of the BS like electrical grids and traffic jams. If only Evil Genius would get an HD remake.

Some news tidbits I just found.

Bethesda has now officially confirmed Prey 2. Some of you may not know that it was halted after Arkane was revealed as the new dev team, due it not meeting Bethesda's expectations.

Also, here's a nice new trailer of Mass Effect Andromeda, this time finally showing some gameplay. It looks friggin awesome!.

That Death Stranding trailer was as confusing as the first but I loved it! How many more actors does Kojima have for this project?
He says it was running real time on the PS4 Pro, which is neat. We see more of the fetus/baby that I can't wrap myself around on what they're for. Amazing to see Guillermo Del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen on this project too.

The Mass Effect trailer looked really cool. I like the short burst jetpack. It makes you feel less confided to the ground which was the case with the first three games. The mako looks nice too and the planets look more lively than they did in ME1. Of course, there could be more of those barren ones but the game looks good nonetheless.

Death Stranding is PS only? That sucks because it looks absolutely amazing. I managed to play The Last of Us without owning a console but it involved housesitting my cousin's nasty dogs for a week.

The more I see of Mass Effect Andromeda the more I like it.

Looks like it is PS only which is a bummer. Did you play through the last of us completely?

I've been playing Skyrim special edition. Woah, does time fly or what? I'm already 43 hours in and I've only just met the greybeards. I've been doing a lot of side quests, faction/guild quests this time, since my first playthough (3 years ago) didn't involve any of that. I was clueless to how a bethesda game was supposed to be played back then. I'm enjoying it, probably as much as Oblivion. The UI is a mess though. I had to use a mod to fix that. Funny, cause I don't remember it being this clunky back then.

My character is currently at level 29. I've got smithing upto the 90s (had to do a lot of farming) and I'm mostly focusing on a sword+healing build. It kinda sucks because that was what I was before too. I tried for a magic build but spells are too weak for now. I gotta look into it more. I'm probably doing something wrong. I'm not wearing mage robes cause they have 0 armor rating, and I'm a sucker for armor, lol.

Yep, I played all of The Last of Us. It took me about 2 days to figure out the controller.

I don't know. I would have thought The Last of Us if any game, would have made it to PC. I guess it really just depends on the studio.

Well PS exclusives always have a "Only On PlayStation" (check Spiderman, God of War, Detroit Become Human trailers) screen before the trailer starts and both of Death Stranding's trailers didn't have that. And then a Sony official did confirm that it will come to PC later but later deleted that message.

That gives me hope. I'm really excited to see how Kojima is going to handle this game.

Yeah, the controller gave me a hard time when I first started playing with it too. It was hard for me to look around and move at the same time.

Yes it does. I don't get the feeling Naughty Dog is at all interested in developing for PC. If anyone can get Sony up off their only on PS mindset though, it's Kojima. Naughty Dog was acquired by Sony, but Kojima Productions remains independent.

Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is officially releasing in 2018.

And The Last of Us Part 2??

Got the itch to look for an HD textures mod for Dead Space 1 last night. One guy started one but never finished it. So I decided to reinstall it and enable VSR at 1440p. Man it looks quite a bit better than it did on the hardware and settings I played it on before.

Wait, what, where?

I was thinking of replaying that over Christmas. What mod is that?

Really enjoying Mad Max. It's somewhat like the second and later Far Cry games but it's different enough I'm not getting tired of it.

LOL, I can never figure out if you're way ahead of me on games, or way behind. I see you put up posts of having played some games well before I get a chance to, then you come up with one of these retro gems. 😀

Heh, retro is 2003 to me. 😛

Really I'm pretty picky about buying new releases. I usually get my games on sale unless it's something I'm excited about and those are few and far between.

This is funny because to me Retro to me is anything between Atari 2600 and Super NES/Sega Genesis. Anything later is just "older".
