Interesting to see all the mentions of Dead Space in this thread. Over the years I acquired DS1 & DS3 in various bundles, but never got around to playing them. I'm primarily used to RPGs, so I'm not so sure how well I'd do in an Horror/Survival/Action game. From what I've read, you need to be a good shot in the Dead Space series.

Limb shots

I don't know why RPG's are boring now, there is no specific stories for it,multiple endings, and I hate inventory things what ever but when I was a kid I only play RPG I don't what happen now but I have Dark souls 2 i'll start it soon

Well I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.84Ghz,8GB RAM DDR3,Windows 8.1 Pro and AMD Radeon HD 7500 series (1GB) 😀 Just going to change these things 😀

It's not as bad as you might think. In DS 1 & 2 you are using mostly space age mining tools for weapons that have multiple plasma beams for breaking rock. Thus you can fairly easily line up limb/tentacle severing shots, especially since much of the combat is close range.

There are also weapons that simulate a shotgun, particle beam, or one called a Force Gun that quickly kills or knocks back enemies that get too close, and those have a much wider spread, except for the Contact Beam, which is a very powerful one hit kill weapon.

The beauty of the series is they innovated things like a holographic inventory screen projected by your R.I.G. (mining suit), as well as health and stasis module bars that show up as lights on the back of your suit. The stasis module allows you to fire it at certain objects or enemies to slow them down momentarily, another thing that aids aiming.

Then you have Kinesis, which allows you to pick up and throw heavy objects blocking your path, or even break the bladed ends off monster corpse limbs to toss as spears, which helps conserve ammo. There are also Stasis gel canisters you can pick up and toss, which is a powerful slow mo weapon that conserves your stasis module.

Both Stasis and Kinesis are fired by attachments placed on the arm opposite your weapon trigger hand, so you only need look the proper direction and hit the pertaining key, and the weapon you're carrying stays equipped. The reason DS series is so popular is it has a great horror feel and innovates with creative gameplay elements.

No kidding, the sooner the better. I thought MY spec was outdated. (i7-950, 7970, 8 GB RAM)

I guess your processor is outdated...BTW I have a Core I7-4702MQ 4th Gen but it's laptop with Intel HD 4600 Graphics ;(.But I have planned to buy a AMD Ryzen R5 pro 1300,Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/AMD Radeon RX 460 or AMD Radeon R9 280x/290x let's see Which one I buy and 8 GB DDR4 RAM and Seagate 1TB baracuda 7200RPM with a 64GB SSD and Windows 10 Pro that's decent right?

I just want to play assassin's creed syndicate on high graphics And don't have much money so budget able GPU will be R9 290x?And i'll buy a new GPU again I like to change things

exactly as i stated.

the GTX 1060 and the RX 480/580 are both very cheap when on sale at the right place. this would get you decent settings on any newer game. it's always better to just a save a bit more and go for good hardware.
what type of budget are you planning?

I have a budget of 120$ or less than 120$ for GPU

Yes, you can play AC: Syndicate with decent settings on a 290X, but not Ultra, and maybe not even a constant 60 FPS all the time.

The only time you might notice any slight lag is when carriage riding, because for some idiotic reason they hard coded blur to high speed carriage riding (ie: the blur can't be disabled), and it causes a bit of lag on some rigs.

i would say you are very limited to what you can play at decent resolution and with decent settings with that type of budget. you may just have to settle for low(er) settings in most newer AAA games until you save a bit more.

just finished Prey with all but a few random side missions completed. those where trivial quests though.
right over 60 hours with probably 30 hours of time replaying save reloads to do things "correctly" in a lot of circumstances.
I really loved it, am contemplating just playing through again and actually paying attention to all the emails, transcribes, and conversations so i can stay more on track this time.

after just running through Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, ME: Andromeda, and Prey (2017) i really don't know what to play next out of my queue that will hold up against them.
have started the OG Mass Effect again and it looks great on the new 1440p 165Hz display with all of the Nvidia Control Panel filters turned all the way up. but the combat shooting seems a bit too devolved compared to all the newer games i've played since.

i am stuck between PoE: The White March 1 & 2, Grim Dawn with it's newer content, Tides of Numenera, Obduction, Watch Dogs 2, Just Cause 3, MW: Infinite Warfare, Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
may just have to start them all and see which draws me in the most.

new display; AOC 27" 1440p 165Hz IPS. had a 35" Ultrawide 1440p 100Hz in my cart all week but when it came down it I couldn't justify the near $1000 right now. so $625 for this seemed like a better idea.

just need to get it on my wall-mount arm and get the cables tidied up a bit.

Well not ultra graphics on even RX 270x well I'll buy a GTX 1050 Ti later 😉

I'm about 110 hours into my second Fallout 4 playthrough. First time took about 215 hours. This one might be longer. The more I play the more I like the game. I still haven't installed a single mod and mods should be good for a few hundred more hours at some point.

Nice monitor. That's close to what I paid for my 32" 1440p Samsung ( 60Hz AMVA+ ) a few years ago. It's not a 'gaming' monitor but colors and especially black levels are still as good as anything I've seen.

The planet exploration in the first Mass Effect looks amazing. And just because it starts the best trilogy in gaming I can overlook the antiquated combat.

I still have a backlog. It got bigger with the latest sale but only a little bit. I couldn't find much I didn't have that I wanted.

Edit: I see a shelf o' Stephen King. I have a few of those myself. 😀

???You DO realize those are both way less powerful than the GPU I mentioned don't you?

You're being very unrealistic, you can't play extremely demanding games on cards like the 1050 Ti with Ultra settings and 60 FPS.

I really don't get why if a 290X is within your budget as implied, you wouldn't just get one of those instead.

Well after some time i'll buy one more RX 270x and just apply crossfire what do you think then the bit's and vram will double right 😉

No. VRAM is not additive in Crossfire and SLI. 2 x 4GB cards have 4GB of VRAM when used together.

Nope, not only does the VRAM not double as anort mentioned, you also get nagging problems with Crossfire and SLI, which is why a lot of people don't use it anymore.

Typically nothing "doubles" with Crossfire or SLI. At most you usually get 80% more rendering power, but with GPUs that have 3GB VRAM or less, you'll still not be able to use max textures in some games due to frame buffer problems.

It works like this, the CPU has to send the GPU (or GPUs) the data to render. To avoid severe performance problems while waiting for that data, the rendering data is also cached in VRAM. This is why without adequate VRAM, a lot of today's graphically intense games can't be played on max textures.

And the reason you don't get double the VRAM is pretty much all games that are coded for Crossfire and SLI use AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering), meaning only one GPU is used at a time to render the full scene, so only one card's VRAM is in use at any given time.

Well I'll buy a RX 270x then i'll buy a GTX 1060 (3GB) or a RX 290x okay?

why would you waste the money on a weak 3 generation old card? you could save, if you need to, and just spend the total amount on one decent card that will actually perform the way you seem to want.
the lowest you probably want to go for the performance you seem to be aiming for is a 6GB GTX 1060 or 8GB RX 480/580. that should get you ~60fps @ 1080p with near to if not ultra settings in most modern games.

Go with a 1060 6GB, and forget about the 270X. It doesn't even factor into the conversation really, given what your goal is.

Not even the 1060 6GB will play all games at 60 FPS @ 1080p. You'd need a 1070 for that, but you can't afford one, especially now that they're priced high due to bit mining.
