Yeah I'd have to say I probably enjoyed Mad Max more than Rage actually.

Just finished the Ghost Recon Wildlands campaign on Tier One (ended story at tier 23), and after that the Fallen Ghosts DLC. Both were excellent. Now I'm just starting the Narco Road DLC and I wish I'd played it before Fallen Ghosts, because it's not nearly as good. It feels like Saints Row type arcade silliness, and just doesn't befit a tactical recon game.

I enjoyed Mad Max more as well. RAGE had potential but the relatively empty world, abrupt ending and terrible driving mechanics kept it from being great. Mad Max fixed all those weak spots.

Still RAGE was fun and it had a promising storyline. It's too bad more wasn't done with it.

Currently downloading The Evil Within to play for the first time. If I'm not crazy that's a game you've talked about quite a bit isn't it Frag?

I too am partial to single player RPG. I first got hooked on the Diablo series. I also love the Silent Hunter Sub Simulators up to Silent Hunter IV. I have tried Silent Hunter V but can't get into it.
That being said My Favorite all time game has to be The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. There are so many Mods for it that it never gets olds. I am 60 years old, recovering from shoulder surgery and Skyrim takes up most of my time.

Closing in on 50 here. Like you, Skyrim is one of my all time favorites (1000+ hours so far.) However, lately I've been focusing on finishing up on the Fallout 4 DLC and trying some of the other faction's questlines.

Tried the Tomb Raider: Dagger of Xian demo mentioned above and remembered what I don't like about TR games - dying over and over again while figuring out puzzles, or which cliff to jump off. In spite of that, I bought Tomb Raider 2013 (on sale for $5) and enjoyed it more than DoX, but I'm still finding the QTEs frustrating.

Finally I'll mention Divinity: Original Sin 2. I like the story more than the original (thanks, Chris Avellone), but it's tough to avoid friendly fire. I've put it down for the moment to concentrate on wrapping up the FO4 DLC.

I'm a mere embryo at 43.

I've loved all the Elder Scroll games. Morrowind came as a free game with a GeForce 6600 I bought in 2002 and I've been a fan since. First Fallout was Fallout 3 and it's a tossup as to which series I like better. I just spent a little over 200 hours playing Fallout 4 for the second time ( 430 hours total ) and I still have Nuka World and the main questline left to finish.

The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot was pretty good. Rise of the Tomb Raider took all the good parts of the reboot and made them even better.

As for the repeat missions I guess the same can be said of Mad Max, I don't play it much because I feel like I'm simply doing the same things over the same terrain over and over again. Having said that, Mad Max has stunning visuals and physics, as well as playability. It's just a shame that I found it to be so repetitive.

@anort3 LOL, I've been playing the Elder Scrolls series since Arena. With the exception of Oblivion. There was something about the NPC facial models that looked like great bloated sacks of pus. I couldn't take it, especially the way they zoomed in on the fugliness during dialog. There's probably a mod for that...

Yes I play the special addition version from Steam and there are all kinds of mods you can get to right from the game's start screen. The vanilla Special Addition cleans up a lot of the graphics too.

Then you might not want to play Chapter 2 of MGSV TPP, it's mostly the same exact missions with restrictions.

So far I haven't been further than the beginning of the first mission, haven't felt like going on into it. Now that I know that the 2nd chapter is basically doing the same missions over and over again, I feel bad about it because I love the visuals and the playability of this game, not to mention the story. Too bad :-(

Ok, you just made me curious enough to go beyond the first Chapter/Mission and after hitting the Motherbase I'm now on a mission I picked from the iDroid and it seems nice, at least so far. I died while trying to capture a wolf or something and now I'll have another go sometime later. So far, so good!

Chapter 1 is not mission 1 if that's what you're assuming. Chapter 1 is the whole first half of the game, and honestly, could have sufficed as the whole game.

I forgot to tell you as well that there's a lot of repetition in Chapter 1 as well, regarding the side ops. However they are a valuable way of gaining resources for upgrades, so I would suggest doing them anyway.

Also, don't miss the opportunity to Fulton extract D-Dog. You'll hear a little puppy yapping at you while infiltrating a base in one of the early missions.

Also remember to return to the base to use the portable shower near the helipad anytime you take fire in the field or just after extended trips. It refreshes you and boosts back up some of your abilities, plus that way you won't miss the cute cutscenes of D-Dog as he grows.

Thanks for the heads up, I now am relieved and am gonna play this game for a lot longer without worriying about those repeat missions. And I'll probably do those as well, this game is really something else!

LOL, sorry, forgot another thing. One of the ways it's repetitive is if you want to do all the side objectives within missions, especially the ones that give you access to items or personnel that are useful, you'll have to do the missions over later. This is because you won't have the gear you need to get all of them the first try. For instance the stronger Fulons that can carry very heavy objects (Cargo Fulton).

What I did was go for the S score first, as well as any side objectives that were possible, then the side objectives I missed later.

Don't suggest that else he will miss the cutscene.
The beauty of this game is to figure out things yourself.

I've seen players suggesting return trips after acquiring D-Dog a lot, and you're the first I've ever seen treat it like a spoiler. The fact is you can easily miss those cutscenes if you don't remember to return to base, and they're some of the best cutscenes in the game. It's also hardly a gameplay spoiler, and he doesn't know yet what the scenes look like, so please, let him decide for himself if he values the advice. He already said "thanks for the heads up", so it seems you're just meddling.

Ok, I think I've finally started to get the hang of things in this game and it's becoming better and better, especially considering it's not my kind of game. I still haven't found the shower by the helipad, in fact I haven't found anything really at the Motherbase other than soldiers saluting me and saying they need supplies. I'd like to know if there is a way to take some of those soldiers with me on a mission. I'm just taking this one slow since it's not, like I said, my main type of game, but every time I play it and find something new it's wonderful.

The showers are marked on the minimap, and are white structures roughly outhouse size, with blue markings on them. The one by the first helipad you go to is just to the right and ahead as you get off the chopper.

Yeah the game is better than I'd expected too. I typically don't like a lot of sci fi in my military shooters, but this one was done pretty well.

I should also point out that if you don't want that shrapnel "horn" as it's called in your head growing long, and your face being permanently spattered with blood, you'll want to keep your heroism level high. Anytime you kill enemies without needing to it lowers your heroism, and it's often accompanied with a warning sound.

Things that raise heroism are rescuing prisoners, fulton extracting troops and animals, etc. It can take quite a while to get your heroism back up, and if you go in like Rambo killing a lot of enemies, it will drop fairly fast, so be aware of that. Heroism stats are shown on the lower right of the stats page. It makes a lot more sense to fulton enemies anyway to build up your mother base staff.

Cleaning off blood is one thing showering does. I had read once that you can also clean off blood just going prone and rolling in a shallow stream, but for some reason that trick didn't work for me. Also, showering will not clean off the spattered blood on your face once you get to "Demon" stage. Only raising your heroism does that.

Yeah by this stage in the game I've lowered my heroism by quite a lot, I didn't know you could(and should) raise it and how I could do it. Thanks for the tip, I was actually using the Rambo approach with all the missions and enemies, now I'll try and use the stealth approach and fulton rescue as many soldiers and animals as I can.

Also I'll start using the showers as often as I can.

I went full on stealth with MGS V when I played it earlier this year. I could recollect a few missions where I just couldn't sneak past the enemies, so in those situations I had to resort to killing. MGS V was an absolute blast to play and it was my first Metal Gear game too. I had played Ground Zeroes before this, so that's what drew me in, in the first place.

I've been playing Cuphead now. This game is so beautiful with those visuals and the gameplay is really good. I mean, it's really hard though, damn, I have a hard time beating levels and bosses. It takes me a good 10-15 tries before I defeat a boss. Sometimes more. It gets frustrating but you'll just keep coming back to it.

LOL, that reminds me of another useful tip. It's highly advisable in situations where guards are close together and/or patrolling in groups of 2 or 3, to use your empty magazine and prosthetic to lure enemies away or toward you. You have an infinite number of empty magazines to throw, and of course the prosthetic clicking can be done anytime too.

Once you master use of these two items, you'll be surprised how many camps you can clear with total stealth. The trick is getting to know exactly at what distance a guard will hear the magazine or prosthetic. Also, one thing that makes it easier, is even if 2 guards hear a magazine drop, only one will go to investigate it.

That said, you have to be careful with the prosthetic arm. If 2 guards hear it, they both might come. Also, the state they are in before hearing it determines how they'll react. Sometimes even when not alerted at all they'll stop to radio that they're checking out a suspicious noise. It's best they are not at all suspicious before using either item.

So basically using stealth effectively can take a fair bit of time, and this is what also exacerbates the repetition in the game. It's an ever present issue when clearing the same camps repeatedly on side missions, or just going back to main missions to pick things up you missed, and is made worse by getting spotted or killed and having to try over.

I've gone back in time and started playing Max Payne 3 again. I live in Brazil and since the game takes place mostly in my country I love it. Add to that the fact that it's still so well made(the killings are awesome for one) and the portrayal of Brazil is quite accurate and this is for me one hell of a game!
