Nice improvement belcourt2002, and a good way to juiced up the older machine with newer hardware for performance. How is the temperature for the OC staying in good range~?

Hmmm i7 980x I bet that can bump my scores over 9000+ on low. But for now I'm happy with i7 930. Even on ebay i7 980x is $800+ ><

Looking at Belcourts #'s, it seems the gtx 465@800 is faster than the gtx 460@920.
My score was almost 3400 his, was 4300. (at least in FF)
My faster cpu would account for my higher 720p score 5900.
Comments ?

would be nice to see some screen-shots first before we jump to any conclusions ;)

here a screenie at 3Ghz and the GPU underclocked to 650/1000 1080p (HIGH)

http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv199/OvrClkr/3Ghz_650core.png

going to run @ low and see what i can come up with..

same settings "low"

http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv199/OvrClkr/3Ghz_650core_low.png

nice score dude! I wish I could run my CPU at 4.1Ghz but my ambient is too warm ATM :(

4413 on low

3620 on high

@ 3Ghz / GPU @ 650/1000

i tried to get it as close as possible to Belcourts system :

3Ghz / GPU @ 850/1150 on "high"

http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv199/OvrClkr/3Ghz_850core_high.png

so i scored a bit over 4k, IDK these scores fluctuate too much..

Thanks OvrClkr =). My ambient is much warmer now so I had to tone it down to 4Ghz, but at much lower v.core 1.27 so that's fine.

notty22,
What RAM speed are you using? The reason I'm asking because usually with higher RAM speed the scores will bump up some.

I run my ram at 1600mhz 888, 10multi, I find, windows just about everything faster with fast ram. I know thats controversial, but IMO, with these faster gpu's, ddr3 VS slower DDR2, is part of the difference why older systems seem to bottleneck.

out of the box the 465 is slower than the 460 1Gb in most tests, something is not right.. Notty's GTX 460 @ 900mhz should clobber Belcourts 465 @ 800mhz. Look at my score, I scored 4k at 850/1150 and lost to Belcourts score by 300pts .

Maybe a typo? I think it is because...

Q8200@2.33ghz quad with a radeon 3450 with 4 gb ram and win vista 32 bit gave me an awesome:
Low: 421
High: 393

Then I changed the graphic card to a gtx 465 and got:
Low: 1530
High: 690

if you look above you will see where he upgraded from a 3450 to a GTX 465 and his High only jumped 197 points? it should be much higher than that.. Now look at the low score, it went from 421 to 1530 at the exact same CPU clock. A C2Q @ 2.33Ghz is not going to score 421 points on Low. My CPU scores well over 1k @ 2.4ghz so I guess we can call it a typo, hopefully.

Maybe it is a typo, those low scores under 1k range are usually for laptop or an integrated GPU. And since low scores depended on CPU more than high scores I don't see why the scores can't be a bit higher. However, if it's not a typo than they are some strange results.

Hello,
To all of you non-believers requesting a screenshot:

<a href="http://s872.photobucket.com/albums/ab285/abqman/?action=view&current=Untitled.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/ab285/abqman/Untitled.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Notice how my CPU is only 33% and the RAM is 31%. That is because the benchmark only uses a percentage of your total computer power to test your computer. "We" have "forced" said program to use more available computing power using advanced technologies (not accessible or inoperable by you and confidential by name and source).

The benchmark is for advertisement, mainly to estimate a number of PC users actively interested in this game. It is not a REAL device to measure computing power for the video game. You will just have to buy it and find out. Although, you will be fine with dual cores of 2.5g and up, 4gb RAM, and a GPU of at least 720mb. You WILL need a GPU though. Hope to see you in FFXIV.

I didnt keep screenshots, cuz I had to install win 7 64 bit, and since I had 32 bit prior, I needed to do a fresh install and lost em =(

As for the overclocked gtx 465 it was unstable and crashed after playing sc2 for an hour at max graphics and had to bring it back down to 700/1400/1800 with msi afterburn. The saddest part was my second ram channels died when I upgraded the cpu fan so I only got 4 gb atm. Made my score drop from 4.9k on low to 4.1k, but at least the cpu temp isin't 80 C anymore.

I also looped it too see and each time it was +/-50 in score (im guessing its lower cuz I only got 2 ram slots instead of 4 now =/

Sorry I dont have any screenshots, Im at work atm =/

Edit:
Perhaps its due to the Q8200 to be on a weak power supply, when I got the gtx465 I increased to a more powerfull one. Maybe psu was causing it to not perform well (well too late to check it now I gave the old parts to friends)

It's true that the benchmark doesn't use up all the system resources, however what we are trying to accomplish here is to run the benchmark at it's normal setting without "forced" it to alter the "real" scores. Nonetheless it's interesting to see the results from your testing with "forced" setting.

What I would like to know is what is your normal scores without "forced". That way we can compared it to our own scores.

In fact we also know that the benchmark at the moment doesn't even support SLI/CF and I doubt it ever will. The game will be release in 20s day or so =) Maybe GS will have midnight launch lol...

Without "forcing" the Benchmark, I achieved a score of 42XX, and decided no, I have a bad ass setup. So I went ahead and made the Benchmark use my whole system. And VIOLA! a score of over 11000.

seems like JC2 is optimized for NV cards, I got 81FPS using the same exact settings that you posted while having the GPU at 1000/1300

Seeing as to how this thread is still alive and is the first Google search result for "FFXIV Benchmark Score", I'm going to try to see if anyone can help me make a purchase decision.

I'm currently in need of 2 machines to run FFXIV.

I'll be happy with just a score of 2000 so I can play the game, 3000 if it doesn't break the bank.

One machine is a Pentium D 2.8Ghz with 3GB of 677Mhz DDR2 RAM in need of a Graphics Card.

The other machine is a Core 2 Duo 1.88Ghz with 3GB of 800Mhz DDR2 RAM in need of a Graphics Card.

Both machines are on Windows XP 32-Bit SP3.

I went out and bought a Radeon HD 4350 PCI-E 1GB GDDR2 in hopes of achieving at least 2000 on a "budget".

Never got a score higher than 558. It seems like for the most part, the score of the benchmark is GPU-based.

Granted it went from a 68000ms+ load time to around 33000ms on the Core 2 Duo.

Is there any Graphics Card out there I can buy that is less than $200 each that can get me at least a score of 2000 to run the game?

If I have to buy 2 new machines with at least an i5 and then go out and buy each of them a graphics card, I might as well wait 6 months and pick up two PS3.

And even if I CAN run the game with a Graphics Card under $200, is it safe to assume that the load time on the benchmark will be a good gauge of what the load time will be when changing zone in game?

33 seconds will drive anyone insane.

68 seconds will probably force me to shoot myself.

Thoughts?

I got a 2843 on high and a 3940 on low.

e8500, 4gb ddr2/800, trusty old 32 bit XP sp3 and my new Palit GTX 465. I may try again after I overclock the card and Windows 7 64 bit comes in the mail.

Just downloaded the benchmark for ffxiv , scored just over 5700 for low , High seems to be unrealistic unless you have a 25+ inch wide monitor for your pc

I7 930 - OC'ed to 4ghz W/ Noctua cooler
SLI - 9800 gtx+ OC'ed 780 mhz & 1200 mhz shaders
Mushkin 6gb ddr3 redline memory
tx650w corsair psu
