Has anyone played DEAD ISLAND 2 ? Worth the purchase ? Lots of Zombie blood and gore, which I really like. But first I need to buy a discrete mainstream GPU before I can even buy this, assuming it is worth playing.
Dead Island 2 is back! A unique formula of horror, dark humor and over the top zombie-slaying. Coming 04.21.2023 to PlayStation, Xbox and Epic Games Store

I went from disinterested when it got took over by another dev team that was intent on turning the franchise into a comedy, to considering it after watching some recent gameplay trailers that show over the top ways to kill zombies. I'm not normally into what I call "Horsing Around" games, but as few genres as I take interest in, and the high percentage of PC games releasing in horrible condition, I end up not gaming as much unless I stretch what is acceptable to me.
BTW, I've been playing AC Valhalla lately, and it's been a mixed bag for me weighing more on the neg experience side. I enjoyed Origins and Odyssey far more, largely due to the combat mechanics being much more manageable for me, and the progression being more predictable and doable.
In Valhalla, I don't like that they made spears the most overpowered weapon on the enemy side, yet the player doesn't have access to them for some time. Unless you cheat your way to Odin's Spear via no-clip glitching into the cave it resides in, you're going to have to take on lengthy quest lines and grind to get one. In Ubi's defense however, though I thought at first that Vikings didn't actually use spears much, just axes and swords, in researching it I found both Vikings and Anglo Saxons DID use mostly spears.
Still though, I cannot excuse at all the way Ubi structures progress through this game. There have been many times without warning I end up going on a quest that starts out very doable, only to end with enemies that are 2-5 times my power level, it's idiotic! I have searched for how to access spears via normal gameplay, but pretty much all the ways involve going into regions that are at least twice my power level.
So I have to ask you MM, I seem to recall you saying you tried the game, did you ever play it long enough to acquire a spear, and if so, where did you get it and on what quests?
I'm usually not that great at games that require precisely timed counters, but this one also is confusing in making me not understand whether spear attacks are supposed to be blockable (I usually can't block them). I had no problem blocking in Skyrim, Origins, Odyssey, and God of War 2018 (save for the Valkyrie Queen), but in this game I can only seem to consistently block those with swords, axes, and hammers.
