most of my t shirts are around 25 to 30 years old, my newest band T shirt is likely the one I got in the Page & Plant concert I saw

almost 29 year old T shirt.

I supposedly have a rare Slayer T shirt but as they are part of my history, I don't care how much they are worth. wish I still had the tour Tshirts from the Slayer & Metallica concerts I saw - SOuth of Heaven & AJFA respectively

Yeah the only music shirts I have are from concerts and are getting pretty old.

I don't even know what the last concert I saw was. Widespread Panic a few New Years Eve's ago I think.

I've still got a Pink Floyd shirt from 94. It's got holes worn in it though.

Well it was an auto thing after being off topic a bit.

I got a warning for talking in the builds competition which lead up to it. Nowhere does it say we cant havw a friendly conversation about our builds there.

Some forums are just a little more strict... it really depends on the topic.

I have been told off for doing it myself so you not alone, some users don't like the people answering to talk to each other... there isn't anywhere really we can do that besides topics like this one.

Why was your account banned ? I need to know the reason, because it might help me as well, so that I don't repeat the same mistake again. I'm not sure how OFF Topic rules work here though.....But, it would be much better if we can get some clear answer from any of the MODs/Admins.

well, we generally like people to stay within bounds of topic associated with the thread. So talking about anything that is not covered by OP generally gets you noticed

I don't think there are any formal rules but more a general advisory.

Some of us mods are the worst when it comes to staying on topic

I asked the mod what i said and he inserted a quote, but the quoted material was just my username, so i dont know exactly what i said, but he said it was in the streaming and content crewtion builds threads.

In the streaming thread:
Someone said you need to include a capture card and i said you really dont need one. Both messages deleted and i got a warning for off topic, even though it was a message talking about required hardware for streaming in a thread on streaming systems!

In the content creation workstation thread earlier:
I had gotten a warning for kindly chatting with others about why we picked our components in the workstation build contest. All messages deleted and warning for off topic, even though i was talking about my build. Nowhere does it say you cant chat there.

A long time ago i got warned for something i wont go into. I actually deserved that warning.

So must be 3 strikes your banned.

So moral of the story, don't say anything but builds in the builds thread, no matter how on topic it is, it will be marked as off topic...

well, build contests are sort of specific topics, we are generally more lenient in normal question posts but given its for a contest of sorts, they want to keep it on topic.

i never read the rules here, I have however been using forums like this for last 20 years so I knew what not to do. No swearing, no trolling, no GRAPES

Lets be clear here, one of the replies you made very tersely said "Did you even read the rules?", I'd hardly call that friendly conversation.

As for the contest we will be sure to be clearer in the future about avoiding off topic conversation in there. We (the mods) have just been straight out deleting non build posts in there which I am sure you have noticed, however the warning you received was because the posts were not only off topic, some were mean spirited as well. Apologies if this was not clear.

Now that said you should not have been banned for it, and when we all discussed what happened (we do that, often!) and determined it was a mistake, I went in and fixed it immediately. While I wasn't the one to warn you, I was able to correct this.

So must be 3 strikes your banned.

Not really, the system we have is more complex than that, but suffice to say repeated offenses over certain time periods will result in bans from 1-3 or more days depending on severity and frequency. As I said you shouldn't have been banned at that point but due to an error on our end it did happen, but we were able to correct and I apologize again for any inconvenience.

I went into it above, and Colif gives a pretty good short form explanation there. Off Topic discussion in proper places is not against forum rules, however if you are habitually taking peoples topics into the woods this could cause problems.

A topic like this in the hobby section, no big deal. But for example a contest build post where we are asking for builds? Or say someones question about a Win 10 issue that someone goes off on a tangent about their own issue, or discussion with another person who is not the OP about something not related to the question, thats the issue. And even then you won't be banned for it, but you will be told to stop, and if you keep doing it even after, thats where problems can come.
