that's a difficult question. i think people only choose a specific genre of music to appreciate if they are trying to promote themselves as a certain type of person. and sometimes it's hard for us to even keep it straight in our own minds.
i state fairly often that I hate country music, but there are lots of classic "country" musicians that have great songs that i love to hear after 10 beers or so. just please none of the newer crap from guys/gals with a fake southern accent.

my favorite range of music is a large one but i would say it includes mostly things like classic rock n roll:
southern rock (Allman Bros, Blackfoot, The Outlaws)
blues rock (The Doors, Janis Joplin)
hard rock (Led Zeppelin, The Who, old Aerosmith)
pop rock (Eddie Money, Foreigner, ZZ Top)
a lot of newer stuff like Tool, Jane's Addiction, RHCP, Alice In Chains
a lot of harder stuff like Pantera, Sepultura, Danzig, early Metallica
older hip-hop like De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Scarface, Goodie Mob
this morning i mowed the lawn to Neil Young's 1993 Unplugged album, which is great

you never know what will sound good to you until you hear it and can look/listen past any negative ideas you've built up yourself.

i really listen to just about anything. Rap included, my son keeps adding stuff to our iTunes collection... sigh

I presume you must be SINGLE, unmarried ?

Unfortunately, YES. 🙁 😢

Is that a bad thing though, because manic depression befriends me every time, when I think about all this.

Why would that be a bad thing though. I know how you METAL guys feel, and your attitude towards life, is also quite different to some extent. But, I'm sorry if my question offended you by an means, or made you feel depressed. Didn't intend to mean that.

It's actually a good thing, being a lone wolf, imho. I respect that.

Marriage is overrated. Just ask my ex-wife. 😆

Haha !~ That's a good one.
