To be honest i do not have favorite genre..i enjoy almost all kind of music
i can listen black metal, hip hop, classicals, opera and all ...why limit myself? i like i listen...no matter who sings or what genre it is....but in past during school time and such period i was only listening rock and metal...but after times that "love" to specifically that genres is gone and not have any preferred genre...

atm Doja Cat is singing for me

Before this I was listening Rammstein

Everything sounds better now 😀

I spent the last week looking at every review of them to confirm they were worth the asking price. I think I have watched them all now, got to stage it was showing me foreign language reviews, and I knew more about them than some reviewers.
Only things that beat them also cost twice as much..,.. they not cheap as is.

they make a lot of my music sound better now.

I love that Pendulum can sound just as good live as in studio. At around 3:05 he messes up a little and you can see the face but how quickly he recovers it. This is the only music I've consistently listened to over the past 15 years. Others artists it's a song or two here and there.

Here's an example of here or there. Don't care much for Papa Roach and Jeris is a talentless clown but the sound catches my attention.

Since we are mentioning audio gear, I typically use the below but have a few more for specific scenarios.

Audio-Technica:
ATH-AD900 - Serious listening
ATH-AD900x - Daily general home use
ATH-A990z - Work on-Site / Planes

Sennheiser:
HD598 - Commuting (except planes)
HD595 - Retired. Fixed them up and donated them for some lucky individual

I have 2 pairs of headphones I use regularly.

My "good" set of headphones are Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro which I bought directly from Beyerdynamic in 2021. My first major audio investment. I wear these so much they show a lot of wear already, but are holding up well functionally.

I have a pair of Superlux HD681s which I bought as an affordable entry to open backs. The AKG design "inspiration" for the self adjusting headband and earcup swivel design leads to them being very comfortable. They sound excellent for the money, but I do look to buy a much more expensive set of open backs eventually as there is definitely room for improvement.

I have some other headphones I don't use anymore. The only branded ones are Audio Technica M40. Not the current m40x, but the 90s regular m40. Legitimately the most disappointing I've ever been in a product. Genuinely terrible headphones.

As a self-proclaimed audiophile, my taste in music is rather eclectic, so it's hard for me to pinpoint a favorite genre. Classical trance from the early 2000s, right up until the early-mid 2010s, would get my vote if someone was holding a gun to my head. I'll listen to everything except country music, modern rap, and r&b (for the most part).

My intimate listening sessions will be through HD800S. I sold my KEF LS50 Wireless II and will be picking up some R3 Metas that will be powered by a Burson Timekeeper 3iR, for when I want to "feel" the music. It appears the HD800S are no longer made in Germany, which makes me happy I procured a pair back in 2020.

Been enjoying the classics lately.

This conversation lead me to look at buying another set of headphones.

Drop has Sennheiser HD58x for $139, and when I saw that I just had to buy them. Since it's my first purchase on drop I got $10 off.

I didn't even look up reviews for these, I've always heard overwhelmingly good things about them and of course the HD600s.

Hoping I like them. I don't have a proper dac+amp, so it looks like it's time to shove my sound blaster back into my PC to actually power these.

For the price, it's difficult to top the ifi zen dac. Just make sure your firmware is up to date, and you're good to go. Soundcards will still suffer from dirty background noise, and someone with a discerning ear will most definitely notice!

Stay away from Schiit, which, while having decent products on the high end, is the apple of the audio world. Very cult-like with poor CS.
