I’ve been trying to fix this issue for a while, no blog so far could completely answer this problem this is making me go crazy. Please help out. I will keep posting in attempt to hellp out any other people suffering from this problem also.
The problem:
is that as soon as attempt to use my desktop in Dual Channel its shuts off, I cant even load the BIOS menu, I press the power button and then 3-5 secs after it automatically turns off. Ive tried pushing it dozens off times in a row but it will never stay on. However If I take a memory stick out to put it in Single Channel the computer runs perfectly. When this happened my computer was in sleep mode, I tried moving the mouse or pressing the keyboard and nothing happened. I held the off button and shut it off. From that point ive have been having these issues. So I’ve screened it down to either the motherboard or memory (which I doubt).
What I’ve tried so far:
1- Tried different version of windows (currently using windows 7 and was running fine)
2- run memtest on each memory stick one by one (no errors)
3- changed the PSU (it first loaded until the windows logo appeared and then shut off)
4- changed the thermal past on CPU (saw that on different blog waste off time)
5- tried moving the memory sticks to all the possible formulas possible (nothing changed)
6- tried installing windows on different hard drive (but the hard drives is obviously not the issue here)
7- Run driver tests (indicates all drivers are up to date)
What im thinking of doing
1-Take battery and power cable of motherboard and let sit for 24 hrs
2-Flashing the BIOS (BUT THERE IS no update available on the gateway website)
Or running it only in single channel, but the thing I don’t want to. It has been in dual for the last 8 years.
