Where can I find a SATA card with external ports ?

I found a SATA enclosures in a shop but have not seen a SATA card with external ports. Any information is appreciated.

In some forums, some mentioned that external SATA connectors on SATA card was too inside, so it is a little bit bumped with case chassis. The SATA signal cable can easily drop off. Before you purchase a SATA card, you might check that issue.

This BUSLINK model PCI-2S card has 2 internal and 2 external connectors. Max of 2 can be used at one time.

Latest drivers and BIOS can be downloaded from www.siliconimage.com . Both RAID and non-RAID BIOS and drivers available. LED or header pins can be soldered to board to show hard drive activity.

If my impression server me right, Lycom sata cards have the problem. I could not remember from where I saw a photo showing the sata connectors conflict with chassis. It seems that sata cables can¡¦t be completely inserted into the external connectors on most of sata cards.

Thanks, it helps. I wrote to upgradeware and Netstor to have them clarify the mechanical issue. upgradeware replied me that this issue was considered, so their sata cards do not have this problem. Netstor hasn't replied me yet. The upgradeware S1022-E looked promising, so I ordered one. I will let you know after I try it.

Okay, my new SATA drive can now play its role. I have installed the storage config - upgradeware sata controller S1022-E with new Hitachi 7K250 160G/8M in a Native SATA enclosure. I ran Sisoftware program Sandra 2004. According to it, I got an 35120KB/S. Better than the score from its database SCSI U160 (36G, 10Krpm) Great !!!
