Where to buy AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D — the new king of gaming CPUs

In Canada memoryexpress.com has it listed on their site as preorder. But I'd rather buy AMD stock, which will make me money to buy Ryzen 9 9950X3D by the time it comes out.

Kinda shocked at the number of people jumping on this immediately without waiting to see how the higher parts work out in real benchmarks.

Got mine from Caseking, here in Berlin. Curbside pick-up.

First time I got me some HW on day of release. I suppose somewhat lucky that I had a 6 AM shift today. Checked the site after the shift, seen that they added the listing, bought it, and less than an hour later the site said "Out of stock".

Now soon to run some benchmarks with it on second screen and with still a somewhat older GPU, to compare it to benchmarks I recorded some time ago with the 7600X. May sure not make the FPS double for games such as Cyberpunk and Watchdogs: Legion. But curious anyhow, whether the 9800X3D makes a noticeable difference even at somewhat mid-range GPU. :)

9950X3D may sure perform better, for productivity at least. But it is likely to be also almost +50% more expensive. For me, that's money I rather put towards a higher tier of GPU in several months.

It bugs me considerably that in the UK one retailer in question has already raised the price on their site to £519!!! £70 more than MSRP after their first batch of stock sold out.

Scan Computers - £469
Overclockers UK - £449 (although no restock until December)
CCL Computers - £519!!!

Can no longer seem to find the UK Amazon or Currys listing, so presume they’ve temporarily been taken down.

As with vaccines, everything that was thrown away, everyone runs to get it, it seems that they have nothing else to do in their lives

Checked some of the popular Polish retailers out of curiosity and they are all out of stock too, this rarely happens around these parts due to higher VAT lower purchase power.

Yeah it's all going to depends what your specific needs are, "games" is simply too big a category to use a single set of metrics for. Games use both GPU's and CPU's for different things, depending on the engine, settings and scene.

It’s almost double what I purchased my 9700x for on sale (upgraded from a 5700x). With the new mobo and DDR5, I’ve noticed a good increase in my fps lows (as well as max fps).

I mostly game at 4k and use AutoCAD products at times. It’s a bit tempting to purchase, but I’ll likely keep the 9700x for now.

Thanks for the update and inclusion of the UK to the tracker!

I'm keeping an eye out myself, but glad to cover more sides with Tom's reporting 😀

Also, I'm on full copium with dual VCache'd CCDs. I cope.

Regards.
