    ■ I stumble various issue with asus z170 a, consider evga or gigabyte (haven't got one) or other asus variant
    ■ with windowed case you should get https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-xlc-predator-240 . Replace the tube with primochill soft tube, maybe nanoxia cool force LED fitting + PEGT tube.
Any 240 mm AIO can cool 6700K, my pick is corsair 100i

  • ■ 100i was designed to work with low to high flow fans (- 1000 RPM to + 2000 RPM fans) judging by its fin per inch (20 fpi). At 2000 rpm fans it can dissipate 200 W (translate to able to cool 4.5GHz i7 6700K), consider replacing it stock fan with cosair ML 120 series as ML series has wider RPM range (600 to 2400 RPM) this mean ML series is more efficient fan if hooked to 4 pin PWM header.
Pick this if you don't plan overclocking.
    ■ Predator 240 was design for future full open loop water cooling, best practice is for CPU, mosfet, or full cover motherboard water cooling loop. Usually for extensive overclocking scenario.

Really useful reply, but why isn't the Z170-A compatible?

Wasn't refer as not compatible, joined this forum for 2 weeks and found a lot asus z170 a compatibility issues. If you choose it you should check its QVL or even contact asus customer support, since this is online shopping, no 100%guarantee it'll work right away after assembly.
