I just purchased a Ryzen 5 3600x. Currently looking at motherboards, want one that works right out of the box without flashing bios. Have it narrowed down to two. Either ASUS Prime X570-P or MSI B450 Tomahawk Max.
Why?I would suggest the x570 motherboards if you can swing it.
Why?
The B450 board suggested is 1/2 the price and capable of running a 3950X and benchmarking the same as a good X570. You’re gambling that there might actually be a long term benefit. Why not? If spending money on a new board why not get the latest generation that has superior long term benefits?

I can see both arguments. I went with X570 simple for the "what if" and budget wasn't an obstacle. The increased PCIe bandwidth is not a gamble. The NVMe drives are not a gamble.
