Which game do you think has the best graphics?

I am stuck between Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2(direct x 11 and high res texture pack).
Is there any other games out there which has graphics on par with these 2 games or maybe even better?

I've never played The Witcher 2 but might give it a try after i've played the games i'm on at the moment.
Far Cry 3 is supposed to have awesome graphics and i'll be getting that when it comes out.

There are a few different things people will be drawn to. Crysis 1 often gets peoples votes because of the jungle setting. Crysis 2 with the Dx11 patch and highres pack is also good. Metro 2033 has great lighting. BF3 (I haven't played) gets a lot of votes too.

If you include mods, I don't think anything can compare to Crysis 2 with MaLDoHD 4.0 in terms of pure graphics, but the city setting isn't as impressive as a jungle.

I just finished Crysis 2 and uninstalled it:( I didn't know about that mod but just done some reading on it. Maybe it would of stressed my AMD 7850 a bit too much though

Best graphic QUALITY? That would be Crysis 2 with MalDoH 4.0

Battlefield 3 isn't even close.

The Witcher 2 isn't close (don't confuse art direction here with graphic quality though......The Witcher 2 excels here. It is a tremendously beautiful and artistic game with the best graphics in any RPG to date).

The only thing I've seen that can compare with Crysis 2 / MalDoH is Metro2033. Fantastic lighting and texture quality in that game.

The original Crysis still deserves mention here. People are still creating environments in CryEngine2 that are incredibly good......the engine is capable and the outdoor lighting is a large part of what makes it so good.

I've got to be honest about Crysis 1 custom maps on Cryengine 2. The majority of these "realistic" maps would look really realistic if I really smeared real vaseline into my eyes. And if not obnoxious abouts of unrealistic blurring there's always the abundance of horrible pop-in. Cryengine 3 modded with Maldo's is truly the king of graphic quality for the time being, but I still think Battlefield 3 actually looks closer to reality, not that it's overtly realistic either.

Crysis does have terrible LoD snapping and object pop-in. Those things can be vastly improved if you have enough system to swing it (I turned up the object draw-distances and turned off LoD's in the island level one time.....looked awesome but I couldn't even begin to run it).

I also agree that a lot of map makers go a little overboard on DoF blur effects......but I don't think realism is the point, but creating a dramatic atmosphere. I personally like a good balance. I think artistry is a much better goal than realism. I've never gone to a movie and criticized the cinematography because it wasn't realistic.

To a point there is definitely blur when you look at things at distance.....more blur than vanilla Crysis uses, but not nearly as much as what something like Reli2 adds.

I personally don't get BF3, however. It's a great looking game, but I could never consider it for "best" anything. The trees are horrendous. The grass looks like it came out of a cartoon. Lighting looks great, though, and that goes a long way in covering up a lot of what doesn't look good. Whatever method they use to render long draw-distances looks outstanding. I still can't believe they used such ugly trees, though.

I think it's a question thats really dependent on the person answering and does that person like "arty", "stylised" or "immersive realism"

Witcher 2 is visually amazing but if you look close its more in an "art" way than a realism way.

Battlefield 3 again amazing but I don't feel it realistic at all, more polished and stylised. I place crysis 2 in this band as well no matter how technically good it can be made it fails to immerse me it just seems to lack realism somehow to me.

Realism and I know this sounds crazy is ARMA 2 that is the only game I know where on wandering through the wildnerness in Chernarus I genuinely feel like a squaddie tabbing around the training area in Brecon again, to me this makes it one of the best even if technically it's not as it immerses me to a point I forget I'm staring at a screen.

Thats just my 20 pence though like I said It's a question I suspect many people will have many varied opinions on.

Yo dawg this boy be trorrin'

In all seriousness, I'm actually surprised at how the dev team for MOH: Warfighter managed to make Frostbite 2.0 look so poor. The best looking parts of the game are the assets that they ripped directly from BF3, while everything else is significantly worse.

just looking at MOH warfighter and to be honest its as good if not slightly better than battlfield 3 as far as facial animation goes... its very nuanced and almost lifelike...
very good texture maps, lighting is pretty dark but very atmospheric over all 9/10 and probably the best looking game on the frotsbite 2 engine to date...
and being as bf3 was the best looking game up until now then i gotta say MOH warfighter is now top of the pile. but for how long... november will be a very gfx eye candy heavy month...

i have only played the first 3 missions and seen 2 cut scenes and its the cut scenes thats impressed me.
i dunno what cas is seeing but he may be seeing something im not as my eyesight isnt the best. i tend to be concentrating on killing people rather than looking at the scenery... maybe on the second playthrough (if it warrants 1) i will see what he means but for now im impressed.

That is pretty stunning. Some of the blades of grass have a checkerboard effect though?

To me that looks incredibly pretty......but I don't see anything special graphically. Like I said earlier....beautiful artistry!

I personally think this looks far more impressive graphically:

Check out the real-time reflections in the glass.

This is 2006 technology, and to me it looks better than any new RPG:

These do look amazing, I can't wait for this to be the norm in games... what's the second screenshot from?

So do you think Metro2033 would have had the same level of immersion and atmosphere if it were rendered in something like Source?

I'm concerned with gameplay, too.....but I don't believe graphic quality and gameplay are mutually exclusive. I wanna have both. ;)

i would like both too, but i find myself being disappointed with games lately due to the major portion of the budget being sunk into graphical prowess, in pursuit of "realism", at the expense of gameplay. it's always a pleasant surprise to find one that's pretty & involving however :)

I want both too. Sadly Metro's got great specular lighting, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired :(

Metro 2033's game play was pretty good too. At least when you look at the eerie story and immersion. I even enjoyed the game play too. Of course it's all personal preference.

I don't know. I'd say of the modern games it's second only to Medal of Honor 2010 for least enjoyable gunplay, and the stealth mechanics weren't very solid either =(.
