Hi,

I have setup my new gaming Build, Wondering which GPU to go with?
GTX 970 is good but out of budget because of our Tax system in our country. L0L!

Please help me out to choose a good GPU with this build.
I have 2 GPUs in mind, GTX 960 and R9 280X
Or should I wait for R9 300 series.

Here is parts list:
CPU: i5- 4690K
Mobo: Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 5
GPU: ?
RAM: Gskill RipjawsX 8 GB RAM
CASE: Corsair 400R
SSD: Samsung 850 120GB
HDD: WD Black 1 TB
COOLER: H100i
PSU: Seasonic S12II 520 Watts

Let me also know what do you think about my build?

Thanks and cheers. Happy Gaming!

Lot of things to take into consideration. 280x outperforms the 960 by a good chunk. but the 960 comes with a better "pedigree" and ecosystem. Nvidia is great about day one driver updates for new big name titles and really quick to fix any driver errors. Nvidia cards tend to run smoother, quieter, and are more efficient on power than AMD cards. But AMD usually has then beat on performance per dollar.

If your budget is under 200 (USD) for a gpu, get a 960. If it's only around 150, buy a GTX 750 Ti. you can also go for the 300 series. In my opinion, I think you can get an H87 Mobo. H87 is just fine for an I5-4690K. Plus, it'll put more cash in your wallet for a better gpu or anything else.
R9 380 is also great if you want it. It outperforms the 960.

Fanboy

GTX 960 is a terrible price for what it can do compared to an amd r9 280x.

I am not a fanboy to either brand and I do own a GTX 980, but the GTX 960 is a fail price compared to AMD.

but why stick a K-series cpu on a locked board? But my info may not be up to date, I assumed H sereies board had no overclock options.

Well I made changes to my RiG.

This should be my ultimate build.

Realized later that I need to do multi-tasking as well along with games.

CPU: i7- 4790K
Mobo: Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 7
GPU: GTX 970 (worth every penny)
RAM: Gskill RipjawsX 8 GB RAM
CASE: Corsair 400R
SSD: Samsung 850 120GB
HDD: WD Black 1 TB
COOLER: H100i
PSU: Seasonic S12II 520 Watts

I need it to be future proof and not spend every month $$$ to upgrade Shit.

Thanks guys for your time.
