[SOLVED] Which one of IPS and VA is the better display type for reading?

I am looking to purchase a monitor and am a bit confused between two Benq models:
Benq GW2480 (24”, IPS,1000:1 contrast ratio)
Benq GW2470HL(24”, VA,3000:1 contrast ratio)

I usually spend time reading on my monitor and am a casual gamer. I am looking for a monitor that’d less strain my eyes.
Do higher contrast ratios cause more eye strain?

Yes and no because it's not always black on white text and also depends on room lighting. For the most part, it's not going to make a difference. I would go va just so it can get darker for low room lighting. You can always lower the contrast and picture settings while the ips monitor just won't be capable of those nice black levels.
