Which OS items should I pick up?

I generally do private meph runs looking for items I can use, but I drop
stuff all the time that I just don't have room for, or that I don't even
care about because I only play a few character classes. I've decided I want
to start upgrading some equipment (like get an Enigma for my zon), and I
thought one option would be to keep an eye out for desriable open socket
items that I can trade for runes or sojs and save up for an Enigma.

Is there a list anywhere of specific items and number of OS's that are most
desired? like "3 socket fury visor" etc.

Just go here and look for the popular Runewords.Theres a lot of
Runewords(ladder) that need 4 socket bows for example.Meph
isnt the ideal place to hunt for socket items, you want to do Hell
cows or Pit runs.

So just look for elite items with those number of sockets? I assume there
isn't any value in lower items even if they have the right number of
sockets?

Well, flails and crystal swords with 4 and 5 sockets to have some value.
People want them to make Spirit, CTA, and HOTO. Otherwise it's only
the elites that have the high value. Currently, an ethereal cryptic
ax, with four sockets is going for gul+ on east HCL, superior even more.
Another good tradable is Matriarchal and Grand Matron Bows, with +3 to
bow and 4 sockets.
It isn't all elite socketed items that have value, so you have to learn
which ones people want.
