hello

can you tell me please what could cause this problem to a dual core pc:

when I open some webpages and I switch to view one, they don't show up immediately, ie. the view of the webpage is not rendered on the screen, but it slowly loads from the top to the bottom (I am not talking about the time that internet connection needs to download the webpage, I am talking about the time that the pc needs to render an already downloaded webpage to the screen in order to view it)

this also happens with other software windows, when I switch to them, they don't show up immediately in the screen, but they slowly load, first the top of the window till its bottom

all these, ofcourse, when the pc is very loaded

have you experienced this too?

ofcourse, this problem means that there is some kind of limited performance that decreases system responsiveness and, thus, my pc needs upgrade

1) my question is, what kind of upgrade should work best to limit this problem?

more RAM? faster RAM?
more GHz processor? more L cache processor? more cores processor? more FSB processor?
better graphics card? which characteristic of the graphic card should I consider most? more memory? faster memory?
anything else?

2) I often read that newer processors don't offer much improvement in web browsing, office pc usage, etc, but they offer ALOT more in 'video rendering/editing'
should I expect a similar big improvement in images/webpages/windows rendering? (I don't do video editing, I just watch movies)

so, what would you advice? I wouldn't like an overkill processor for specific demanding tasks (video editing, photoshop etc), but I need a powerful processor for increased repsonsiveness in normal home/office usage

thanks

my setup is Intel Dual Core T2050 1.6GHz, 2GB RAM

I upgraded to the maximum RAM supported (2GB), but I can't say I noticed any improvement

I would also check your video drivers. If they're not right you won't be accelerating 2D rendering (something we've taken for granted since the days when Matrox was king) which might cause this type of behavior.

It sounds very much like a dial-up connection.

Does it happen in both IE and FireFox? If yes, it's probably your ISP's fault.
If not, try uninstalling the slow browser and installing it again, or just use the fast one.

Does it happen in all Web pages? If not, maybe it's just those particular servers. For example if you're downloading naughty pics and there's millions of others trying to access the same server, it would be slow.

It may be a display driver issue, but TBH it's not very likely.

Edit: I hadn't seen the message above. OK, maybe, the part about video drivers is not as crazy as I thought, if others thought of it too.

no, no, no i dont thinks its an issue of dial up or slow connection, the OP specifically said this wasn't the issue as it happens wen switching between pre downloaded pages and other apps.

I have experienced the same on slower crappy pcs when your asking too much of them. As people have said previously, i think it might be due to your pc having ran outa ram. Its then using your hdd for extra which is very slow.
Have a look on tak manager to see how much ram u have left.

I cant see it being your cpu slowing it down unless you somehow have all 4 cores at 100%.
