When I build my computer I removed and threw away the thermal pad for the ssd that came on the motherboard, yes, I’m an idiot...but asus could write on it “do not remove”, or add something in the manual of their z390f.

As I would like to buy a pad for my m2 Samsung 970, could someone tell me which pad should I use? I live in japan and I found a pack of 6 pads for 6usd, it comes 2 of each size (0.5mm, 1.0 and 1.5), which one should I use? I think it’s 1.5, but I would like to confirm, thanks.

They give you multiple sizes because no 2 installations are exactly the same.
Distance between the drive and the heatsink above it is what you need to know. That pad needs to make a good connection between both surfaces.

You do this by trial and error.
Leave the protective cover on the thermal pad.
Assemble it with the middle size pad.
Too loose, too tight, or just right? Change as needed.
