which vga vendor is the best?

ASUS is complained about because their first versions of the 7800GT--or was it the 7800GTX? --Anyway, one of those cards had a despicably obvious flaw with the heatsink breaking off. I may be remembering incorrectly though.

To me, every company has at least one lemon that they have breifly sold before realising it was a lemon. For this reason, I don't blame ASUS for this, but my guess is that is why many have ditched ASUS for graphics card solutions. Just a one-time thing and only sold them for two weeks before "unofficially" pulling the product from the market (and revising it to correct the problem), but enthusiasts went ballistic over it. Sadley, many will never trust ASUS again because of it.

Some of those manufactures make both Ati & Nvidia.

Asus, Gigabyte and MSI make both.

Albatron makes Nvidia.

Powercolor, Sapphire and Sparkle make Ati.

My best experiences:

ATI --> No doubt Sapphire
nVidia --> BFG (after I OC it)
How about evga and asus?

Both deserve honorable mentions, but I prefer to deal with BFG and Sapphire. I've had good experiences with them.

I say Sapphire because they make a damn good quality product, for a damn good price. They don't seem to like to be modified, and put up an ugly fight when trying to overclock, but I have afeeling that's the chip. I don't have a whole lot of experience with various ATI chips, so can't say. BUT the quality out of the box stands out in comparison, IMO.

BFG because I've messed around with clock speeds and a few other things on my 7800GS with no isses at all, even when I was expecting a few glitches. I am sometimes torn between giving credit to the card manufacturer, or the chip manufacturer-still there are basic rules. What I see on the screen I give the chip 90% credit for. My temps compared to visual quality, noise, options, and tweaking ability I give the card credit for.
