White Squares On Desktop Shortcuts

Hey guys

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it seems to most appropriate.

But about 2 months ago my desktop shortcuts would all have these white squares on them and I have no idea why. It wasn't a problem them because my desktop was empty, but now I want to use them, and well its really ugly. does anyone know how to get rid of them?

I typed "corrupt icons win7" into google and this was the first hit.

I know this is a rare problem but for anyone else that is looking for a solution, this is what helped me. I downloaded http://www.winvistaclub.com/Ultimate_Windows_Tweaker.html

And I ticked the box that removes arrows from desktop shortcuts, rebooted and problem solved.
