Let us stop the fanboyism and acknowledge AMD's market strategy - the AVERAGE consumer not troubled by synthetic benchmark scores or maxing our Crysis. I see too much hate going on from both camps - let us make love not war. But in reality anyone who 'hates' AMD needs a friggin reality check. Intel will not be on top forever - anyone remember the Athlon series? People were sure AMD would lead the way forever after that.

@SighQ2: No, I did not disparage your race, whatever that may be (hard to tell over the Internet, nor do I care). What I am disparaging is your fundamentalist, mindless anti-Intel religion, as well as your general behavior here.

All you do is spew hate & venom, and then wonder why nobody likes you. Surely even you must realize that when the rest of the world thinks your behavior sucks, they're probably right.

Opposing viewpoints that are thoughtfully elucidated are worthwhile. But mindless drivel is not.

"I don't need to insult" - really? What do you call referring to Anandtech as "Bananatek" then? Pretending that AT is not worth visiting when in truth you got banned for the aforementioned sucky behavior - isn't that "self deception"? And you're insulted because I called you out on it - go figure...

As others have already advised you - try growing up and then maybe you can participate as an equal here. Until you do, your behavior makes us adults wish THG would implement an "ignore" button in the forums...

dont get me wrong man Intel is doing some cool design work but people often sidestep how k8 has come so impressively far. I hated AM2 I felt burned by AMD for that purchase but I am happy with my phenom 2 and its fast enough for what I do, it being a derivative of k8 which is an architecture and metals process thats going on 8 years old is mindblowing.

Thats some serious evolution , the downside was just roughly 2 years of core dominance

Similar to but not the same as someone who disappeared just as he reappeared. 😗

And yes I am aware that the IP addresses are different, to those out there that thought I may have been confused by there being two people who share similar views, ways and means of expressing them.

Really? IMO, Jenny & Sigh (aka Zooty) are very different in posting styles - Jenny's being much shorter, direct and occasionally abrasive, but cogent and well-reasoned (except for the 'AMD cures diseases' and 'magical microwave ovens' ones 😀).

Zooty's, however, appear to be stream-of-consciousness type bilgewater ("infinite emptyness" & other triteness), or flaming rants, depending on whether somebody's managed to set his shorts on fire 😛.

I suppose it could be the same person (a case of online schizophrenia??), but I don't think so.

I just googled for free online posting analysis tools but only found some commercial software 😛.

So I just chalk it up to coincidence, but then you guys monitor the situation much more closely than I do...

I never thought or assumed any sock puppetry was being employed but I did notice and find it amusing that SighQ reappeared at about same time that jenny went on holiday.

Guess I confused you with some of the other posters 😛..

I also think he said he uses dialup, so too bad photobucket & imageshack limit picture sizes - a couple of 10 or 20 megabyte-sized ones would keep him plenty busy here on the forumz :kaola:

SighQ2, you do understand that the 'defective' compiler can only break programs it has been used on? I haven't seen a by % breakdown, but from what Ive read here and elsewhere, its not the most popular compiler out there, mostly being utilized by HPC users who have all Intel hardware anyhow. Unless you have specific proof that a specific benchmark was compiled using the Intel software, your just blowing smoke.

Link or it didnt happen.

Thought it was just me.....

Hehe... Vizio is just low end Samsung. Use the same parts and everything.....

The latest NY FAB attempt was stopped due to loss of cash, bleeding that AMD was doing. But the NY AG started this AFTER the second attempt to build a FAB in NY and AMD couldn't. GF now wants to do it there.

IDK. You never know random, you never know....

Phenom II only works because AMDs 45nm worked. If their 45nm leaked like their 65nm they would have been screwed.

Technically Intel didn't "redesign". They took a step back and continued with the original Pentium design, well Pentium III but with much better clocks, better cache system and so on.

So far it went like this for AMD:

K8 -> K10 -> K10.5

For Intel:

Pentium -> P II -> P III -> Pentium M -> Core -> Core 2 -> Nehalem -> Clarksdale

Take out the Netburst and you can see that Intel has been evolving their design much longer.

Can't we all just get along? I want to toss my opinion out once more.

Intel DOES have the faster/better/higher performance chips right now, but to the average consumer it isn't worth the price. See for yourself on the tomshardware charts, the $1000 core i7's usually perform 2-20% better than the $185 Phenom II 965. If you're in a business where your system is making you more money than it's worth, I could justify going with Intel. However, the average consumer, even a fair amount of us enthusiasts aren't going to ever really benefit from spending 5 times the $ for less than 25% more performance (unless of course having bragging rights floats your boat.)

The $1,000 i7's are not what is kicking AMD's arse in the market place, it is the i5-750's and i7-860's, and you will find they are well south of the $1,000 mark.

haha This is better than most of your recent elucidations; however, you are still obsessing about something that was a mere gross revelation for me over 2 years ago - I am not there, and there is nothing of me here and now today that has an real interest in reliving what I know was simply abuse and deliberate indulgence in ignorance, which - if you think about it - is pretty low. It's still 2 years ago; and you need to get a life; or perhaps deliberately declare that you have a personal mission to disrupt or destroy anything good that is said about AMD; despite the FACTS of all the recent TONS of news that spintel is a bent screw.

>> "others have already advised you - try growing up and then maybe you can participate as an equal here"

If I wanted advice on how to live my life, this is the last place I would consult. The scum percentage here is higher than anything I would describe as a role model. Place the chickens where they lay.

And, re bananatek - I have no clue what you mean - I said nothing about whatever useless biased lying junk website that you mentioned. I said something about bananatek, probably spintel whores, I don't really care.

Since you inject humour and links, perhaps you could illustrate the point.

Also, I do not do hate and venom. And I know or don't care about lamers who don't like me - why would I want lamers to like me. Your priority is not something to impose on others; and besides, it will always be ineffective. Much of this forum chatter is ineffective. If I get attention in the midst of the airborne garboojjj here; then I must be unique. Your uniqueness is diffused by your apparent interests in useless trash. Your suggestion that that is desirable says something about you; but I again do not care because I am not responsible for you; and you are not really of any great interest - despite your socalled humour and links - somehow I miss the joke, and see only destruction.

Proceed. I have no use for it.

Fascinating.

How would that possibly confuse you?

I find it interesting that a mod would even make such a cryptic post, speaking to others in the clique, in the know, about someone. The entire post I would think is beneath a moderator - however, I have seen worse from people in a position of power. Demonstrate your ability to wield it; or it will be removed - and this, not by me; but by you.

Or perhaps you could enlighten me in minor detail re what you are really saying; or do I guess it already? It's your scene. And your post.

Hmmm

OK
You start a thread and I will seek info on the tonnage of software that was compiled with the DEFECTIVE COMPILER over the last 10 years or so.

or
perhaps someone more knowledgeable of the specifics could just set you straight.

I really don't need proof that the crooks are crooks - but some others are going to see that anyway.
Should someone get links to back up all the abuse that occurs on this forum also?
"Link or it didnt happen".
That's convenient; if that's what someone wants.

"the $1000 core i7's usually perform 2-20% better than the $185 Phenom II 965"

:hello:

That makes my day.

I kinda knew that. Actually I think the situation is even more serious than that.

If spintel is so good; why do they need to lie, bribe, and seduce.

😴

As for us getting along - that would involve some level of control - this place is a zoo. Accepting abuse and info based on lies as reliable guidance to computers is a joke - some aren't participating in the trash slinging generally. There are some possibilities; but it seems that chaos is a useful tool somehow. Clean communication is not the order of the day here - what kind of environment would you recommend for "getting along".

Do you know that talking about someone as if they are not there is abuse? And if the people empowered to moderate the place are direct participants in that activity - then what? That's a sick world. It is important to know that for one's own personal safety - but that is talk of some foreign concept. Additionally, the spreading of personal information is a direct threat; and should be addressed rfq. And yet, if those in position to control that are direct participants; then again - a zoo, and worse. Spread the word. Let it be seen for what it is. Animals in name only?

hello?

:hello:

but what they can't even see is that a bright shining light has their attention to the point where they forget themselves even moreso than usual - the place has been dumbed down to the point of romper room.

oh gee, I wonder who he's talking about now. what are you all that bored?

DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO PUBLISH PERSONAL INFO ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE?

DOES THIS WEBSITE PERMIT THAT?

MOUSE IS THIS PART OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION?

IS THIS ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR?

YOU CALL YOUR SELF MODERATOR?

JUST WHAT IS IT THAT YOU MODERATE?

As a matter of fact, no, posting personal information is against the ToS. However, country of origin isn't particularly personal and therefore we generally overlook it unless there are complaints. In fact if we followed the ToS to the letter we could probably delete 70% of the posts on this site (and it wouldn't be abusing our power to delete 100%, that's how stupid the ToS is IMO). I've removed it anyway.

Found this post interesting
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=4186203&postcount=46

it appears AMDs solution is actually using the same amount of silicon, and only yields make a difference , so AMD is on even footing here, and when they go 32, who knows?
This at least allows costs to pricing ratios for competitiveness, and depending on chip, perf can vary for or against either company, depending on app

I'd like to support the moderator's comments here.

Time to keep things a bit more civil.

If you want to assert something, then back it up with a link ... or face the risk of being considered a complete buffoon like me.

There is no need to make petty personal attacks.

Unless you want to gang up on that mousemonkey guy ...

Who is with me??

lol ...
