Hey guys,
I know there's probably a million threads on this topic but I thought I'd throw my situation out there anyway. So basically I'm wondering my download speed is so slow, I'm currently getting about 6-20mpbs downloading an update on my Xbox one X using an ethernet and the same on the wifi. I have spectrum with a 100mpbs plan, along with a Netgear N600 modem/router combo. I'm also experiencing extreme lag and packet loss when playing some games on my desktop which uses a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 wifi USB adapter. Both of which to my understanding are capable of much more than the 100mbps that I would like. Also I ran an Ookla speed test and recieved over 200mpbs download speed but I understand that's subjective along with Spectrum not really guaranteeing that 100mb speed as well. But I mean c'mon, 6 mbps?? I disconnected all other devices from the wifi with no change, basically what I'm wondering is, is it Spectrum or my router? Any answers/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
Gotcha, just out of curiosity what are the reasons why the "other end" can only give me 6?
Because they are supplying data to thousands of people...possibly millions, at the same time.

A service can't max out everyones pipe at the same time. No matter what the ads from your ISP tell you.

The main difference is that, i get 50mbps (Mega-Bit per second) but in download i get 7MBps (Mega-Byte per second)
1 byte = 8 bits.
Divide your mbps by 8 and thats ur download speed. Its simple. there isnt anything wrong with your download speeds
100/8 = 12.5 (Average) Perfect

Ahh I gotcha, so just out of curiosity does the Xbox show mega bit or mega bytes per second? Because now I'm randomly showing almost 200mpbs...and why the crazy changes? Nothing I stated earlier has changed.
