Why is it backwards

I just bought a new case, NZXT Nemesis Elite Gaming Case, and my current computer is a dell dimension e521. I tried to put the motherboard in the case and to my surprise its backwards from the stock. I'm planning on buying a new motherboard and CPU anyway so how could avoid getting into something like this again.

Could you post pictures, I am not sure how it's backwards from normal. unless you mean the I/O panel is offset.

yeah the PCI slots are switched with the I/O Panel.

DELL motherboards, cases and power supplies are always non-standard, they always try to argue that it's to do with reducing costs but i'm fairly sure it has more to do with making sure you have to get replacement parts only from them and that you don't try upgrading your PC yourself

Wrong. They used to use some none standard PSUs back in the days of the P3, but they use standard parts now.

to avoid that problem, don't buy dell.
