Wi-Fi works, but not Ethernet.

OK, so basically earlier this spring i bought an Acer Predator G3-605. Regardless of it being a good computer i have one VERY annoying issue with it. Now as the title already stated, my Ethernet connection port has something buggy going on. Now, whether its a driver or the connection port itself, idk.

Anyway, lets get to the point. When i plug in a working Ethernet cable (tested it to make sure it works on other computers) it takes between 5-15 minutes before the computer "reacts" to the cable, meaning it doesn't even display that the cable is plugged in on the monitor. The cable, (cat5) doesn't have that green light at the port that it usually has (Before it activates). The cable also has a joint with another cat5 cable but that shouldn't really matter.

When the computer registers that the cable is plugged in (shows the "cable connected" sign at the taskbar) it works...or has until now. So i was VERY annoyed with the fact that it didn't respond instantly, like it does and should do on everyone else computer, but i was OK with it since it actually WORKED! Now however it sorta works. I mean so far from my testing i can download updates from windows update and download files through uTorrent/BitTorrent but i cant connect on programs such as Steam, Team speak etc.

Also when trying to surf the web on Chrome it will say, DNS probe finished no internett or DNS probe started. Something like that.

Now i did call Acer and he sendt me some drives but it diddent work. Can anyone help me with this issue? Its a 2k computer, don't want to brake it.

When you plug in the cable, do you feel and hear a solid CLICK? it shouldn't be muffled or feel "spongy." I would use a flashlight and put my eyeball in there to inspect that all the pins look normal and not bent, and there is not a ball of dust in there.

After than, if unable to service it, and software updates don't do nothing, buying a PCI-based ethernet board is relatively inexpensive (usd$20?) to quickly skip the problematic interface.

@jsmithepa I both feel and hear a solid click, there is no dust nor bent pins. However the cable i was using had the litte plasting thing ontop of it (the one you press to remove the cable) broken and it fell off, but i changed cable yet nothing happened.

The motherboard only has 1 PCI slot which is used by my GTX 970, however there are 2 PCI-Express slots which i could plug in an ethernet card so that might work, thanks for saying.

The pc is also on warranty so i can send it in to Acer and let them fix it, etc. replace the motherboard, look at drivers.

But i will contact them again when they open on monday.

Thanks for the reply.
