[SOLVED] WiFi Adapter causing BSOD but ONLY on home network! Mobile hotspot works fine ?

Hey everyone, I've been having severe difficulties with this Wifi Adapter:

My sisters PC has no access to a wired connection, and thus she must use a WiFi Adapter. We've ensured she has the most up to date drivers installed, but whenever she tries to connect to our home internet, her computer without fail will first stop responding, and then BSOD and crash completely. The strangest thing, however, is that:

1. When she connects to a mobile hotspot, using the SAME ADAPTER, there is no problems at all. Perfect signal, no packet loss, no crashing. This is the strangest part to me.
2. Using the exact same Adapter on MY pc, has no issues connecting to the home network. Strong signal with no issues, and does not cause any crashes to occur.

But i'm at a loss as to why this is happening. Using the Mobile Hotspot is a good tempoary solution, but we don't have unlimited data, and it'd be greatly preferable to be able to connect to the home network. Any advice on how to prevent this crashing would be greatly appreciated!

(Or, failing that, is it possible to somehow use the Mobile Hotspot to connect to the home network, instead of using Mobile Data? That'd be an acceptable workaround)

That is kinda a garbage wifi adapter. It is slow and it only transmit at 10% of maximum power allowed.
These are the type of units that lets anyone be in the computer selling business. Some manufacture in china will make say 10,000 units and put your name on it and ship it directly to amazon warehouses. You don't actually have to have anything other than money and some ability to write up amazon marketplace advertising.
These type of device generally have no technical support and never get any kind of software updates from the seller or the manufacture. Mostly this works because the technology is very mature and stable so there is very little that changes anymore.

Then again this is why you can get things like this for $5 rather than pay $20 for a unit from say tplink or asus.

This almost has to be some kind of driver issue. Since it is a USB device it is much more unlikely that some hardware issue can actually crash the machine.

The first step is to see if you can find any error codes in the event monitor. There almost always is something logged. It might be a different driver like a usb driver rather than the driver used for the nic card.

You might also be using different drivers in the 2 different machines. It is very strange that they actually list something like the transmit power, which is hard to find, but do not list the chipset vendor. There are generally only 3 or so companies that make the actual wifi chips even though there are hundreds that assemble end devices.
You need to dig around in the settings page for the drivers and see if it displays the chipset it uses. Many of these are made by realtek but you need to find the actual chipset number. You are then best off trying to download the latest driver from the chipset company website.
