[SOLVED] Wifi won't connect on my laptop

Hello.

I recently just gave my mum my old laptop and shes being having this problem recently. It shows our wifi in the wifi settings menu but when I try to connect to it it says 'Unavailable to connect' Ive tried updating the drivers through device management and uninstalling them but nothing works. Any one have any ideas ??

Check your router. Be sure that it hasn't gotten set to a channel the laptop thinks is invalid. Manually set it to channel 1 or 6 or 11. Those are three primary WIFI channels.

Myself and my brother have noticed the wifi has been bad recently in the house. I got a new laptop and that connect to wifi fine but just not on my mum's. I tried connecting my phones hotspot on my mums laptop and that worked fine so maybe its our actually wifi??

Did you check the WIFI channel your router is using?

You would login to the router as the admin and look at the WIFI configuration pages. What is the model of the router?

It is a Virgin Media Hub 3.0

You need to get to the WIFI setup page. It should look like this -- https://setuprouter.com/router/virgin-media/virgin-media-hub-3/wifi-setup-75178-large.htm
You want the 2.4Ghz channel width set to 20Mhz and the channel set to manual with a value of 1, 6, 11.
5Ghz set to 40Mhz and channel set to 36 (if available).
