Basically im buying the studio XPS and wanted to upgrade the memory. It already has 3 x 1gb DDR3 ram sticks and im planning to buy 3 x 2gb DDR3 memory sticks. Will they still work in tri channel as they are three of each?
Its an i7 920 and has a X58 i think. I def has 6 slots because on dells site they say you can have 4 x 1gb and 2 x 2gb of ram. its worth buying the ram else where for the tri channel speed isn't it?
One more confirmation for a big yes. In my old p4 I have 256mbx2 and 512mbx2. I don't see newer motherboards not being able to recognize a little bit of size difference, as long as the rated timings and clock speeds are the same.

Yes as long as they are the same Mhz; i.e 1066. 1333. 1280 etc etc etc... But also make sure you place then in every other slot. example: 2gb, 1gb, 2gb, 1gb, 2gb, 1gb.
