will a GTX 960 or 970 or 980 be better in this case?

I currently have a gtx 660 that i bought about 5 months ago, it was already used (1 year). However now that gpu cannot play Assassin's creed unity and i am afraid it will not play the games coming up on September 2015.

I am not rich and i have saved for a year to get enought money for a GTX 970 , but a friend told me to not buy it due to the 3.5 GB controversy and to wait and buy a gtx 980.

It will take me atleast 6 months to get that much money.

Note: I have an Intel i5-3570K CPU (using the stock heatsink)

Well it depends upon your CPU too ! if your CPU is weak you may pay lot more money just for nothing ! Can you tell me which cpu do you have
And 3.5 gb conflict came up because no game uses more than 3.5 gb of VRAM

not everyone plays at 1080p either, and yes, some games HAVE doubled vram requirements, shadow of mordor, star citizen on higher settings, skyrim with 2k/4k texture mods and enb's etc.. will eat your vram alive at 1440p and even 1080p in some circumstances. The issue isn't average fps, which is pretty much the only thing most benchmarks test nowadays, it's with stuttering and frame timings, as well as lower minimum fps which causes bad dips in fps making some games nearly unplayable when you hit the 3.5gb mark. Nvidia didn't just gimp the vram into 3.5gb of GDDR5 and 512gb of super slow GDDR1ish speed memory, they also cut it down from 64 ROP units to 56 and 2mb L2 cache down to 1.75, which all of the nvidia and their resellers spec charts lie about. The real proof that nvidia is covering it up is that even 3rd party software like GPU-Z registers the card as having full 4gb vram and 64 ROP's and 2mb of L2 cache, proving that nvidia has coded in false information on the part of the card that software like GPU-Z read to tell what the specs of the GPU are.

i was really eager into buying the the GTX 960, i saw on amazon its around 350-360$ and on UK amazon its 300 Pounds, and thats way aloot of a difference

What?? i think the release price of gtx 960 is around 200$ ! And also it has only 128 bit width and only 2 gigs of VRAM and has more flaws too.
And AC roughly needs at least 3 gigs of VRAM!
And it may not even boot AC unity . Theres a rare chance it does but on very low settings .
You wont get the performance what you`d pay for.
So the best for you is GTX 970!

sorry i mean the 970

I know, but pls focus wth Me 😀 on amazon.com its 350-360$ and in the UK amazon its 300 pounds which 450$ and thats way alot of a difference and idk why..... around 90$ difference,i wanted to buy it from UK for 350 or 360 or so , but 300 pound is way above

I have an Intel i5-3570K

A best solution is why not keep the 660ti and wait 4 nvidia and amd to make their next move on new gpu. Like u said if you want to save keep d 660ti and use it to its utmost max. The moment u notice lags and affected gameplay change ur gpu. Oh btw assasain creed is the worse optimized gmae for 2014. Even the consoles have citied issues with the game that ubisoft even offered a free game to counter lawsuits

i want to get the GTX 970 but im afraid of the 3.5VGB memory issue, i just use 1080p .. hopefully i wont face problems at all if i get it?

Anyway i want to be sure if it will work just fine on my pc with highest performance..

Intel Core i5-2320 CPU @3.00GHZ (4 Cpu's)

8 GB RAM

PSU is 600 watt.
