hi i previously made a post asking if my fx 6300 would support 1 gtx 770 without bottlenecking and it does not bottleneck 1 bit now however i want some more power and plan on running 2 way or maybe even 3 way SLI with gtx 770s. i dont know much about overclocking CPUs so i dont plan on doing that yet till i at least get some better cooling.

i am not an expert on amd cpu's, but i think a 6300 is not that fast. i think it would bottleneck a 770, though i am not sure. but with that in mind, i think it will be too slow for 2 or more 770's.

as for the support, it will depend on the board mainly, not the cpu

does not bottleneck 1 770 the slightest bit.

already have 1 770 though. i cant send it back for a refund and buy a 780 lol

ha, right right. still if you want to run 3 770's and have it be worth it youll need a 8320 or 8350 FX chip. 2 770's will see gains i think but im sure it will bottleneck a bit

i think i might save up and upgrade my cpu to be on the safe side ill post my results if the 6300 does bottleneck though just for future reference for other users to read. i probly wont go with 3 way. what are dimishing returns i have never heard that term before?

It would and does in any heavily multi-player game.

60 hertz refresh rate 1080p i plan on getting into the battlefield games soon i play AC black flag no problems i have enough mods on skyrim that im using 100% of my GTX770 at least thats what GPUID says i wanna run skyrim with DAT GRASS mod with no problems.. if you guys play skyrim and have really high end graphics i highly suggest that mod.

oops i picked your message as the solution instead of quoting lol i didnt wanna end this topic.. ill take your word for it i havent played any high end multiplayer games yet.

yeah those heavily multiplayer games are CPU bound rather GPU bound so your 6300 will go limp before that 770 sli gets maxed

Nah, the 8350 will still bottleneck heavily in most MP games. I had one and it couldn't get my pair of 270x's consistently above 60% usage in BF4 MP. The 8350 is the same architecture as the 6300, just two more cores and higher clock speed.

It all depends on what you want from your system. My 8350 at 4.4 bottle-necked every game I play. That being said, I only play only multi-player games that use a lot of physics or are not optimized for multi-core platforms (think SC2 or WoT, War Thunder). Even BF4 plays better on my Intel quad.

In my opinion, I would get a 3570k and not think twice about it. That's what I did and couldn't be happier. Micro- Center had the 3570k and the Haswell equivalent on sale for $180, which is a steal. Don't know if this is still the case but it's worth checking out, imo.

now that i think about it why not switch to an intel motherboard if im going to switch out my CPU in the end thanks for the idea. whats a good motherboard for intel though this is becoming a bigger project then i anticipated i should have gone with intel when i bought my pc lol. just hope i get this new job soon so i can afford it any suggestions on motherboards? im not looking to spend over 200 on a new motherboard.
on top of that i dont know jack about intel CPUs i know AMD has APUs what is the name of the intel version of the APU? i dont wanna accidently buy the wrong thing lol i just want a CPU that will handle 2 or more 770s.

Don't sweat the change from AMD to Intel. I was a lifelong AMD user going back to the Athlon XP single core. Overclocking was a cinch with 3570k - just up the multiplier and watch your temps. I didn't even tweak the voltage because the per core performance I was getting was 30-50% faster than my 8350 could pull at its highest, stable overclock.

I bought a solid ASRock mobo for $100 from Newegg. I'm running my 3570k at 4.2 with a Hyper 212+ Evo. Paired with my 270x's in Crossfire it destroys anything I throw at it.

the 3570k is benchmarked quite a bit lower then the 8350 though its even lower then the 6350. what do you think about the i7 4820k? looks like im sinking some money into this project lol i want this pc to be a beast in the end though.
