Thing is i bought a FX 8320 , but having in mind an i5 4690 is like two times better ( if im right ) and having in mind also that i ll buy a r9 280x sometime and wish to high / ultra most games with 1080p without a cpu bottleneck i was thinking of replacing the fx 8320 and paying the extra money for the i5 . But im in a tight budget. Also i was also looking for future proof processors , i was thinking if next games start using at least 6 cores i wanna be ready for that . So my question is will a quad core i5 hypothetically run well games with 6 or 8 cores in the future despite being a quad core processor ? Do you think the struggle for paying those extra bucks for a i5 is worth it or maybe i should just stay with my fx 8320 and pay for an intel board with i 7 and a better graphics card later when i have plenty of money to spend ? I have a hd 7850 right now

No that site isn't worth it read reviews on the fx 8370 in later games its behind the I5 or close but the 8320fx will not be as close and since you don't plan on overclocking the I5 really is the way to go. But you said you already have a 8320fx then well keep it i own the 8350fx it works decent enough for gaming. Watch dogs uses every single core the 8350fx has and it still only keeps up with an I5 anything less then that will lose...
While the i5 4690 is more expensive than the 8350, the motherboard with more features would cost less. If you are not overclocking, you could choose out of the i5 4460, i5 4590 and the i5 4690. Any way, you could even go with a h81 board for $50, as you won't (and can't on a non k model) oc anyway.

For example, the really cheapest there is:

Almost as cheap, giving a hell better performance in games.

There is a generel misunderstanding that multi-threaded is equal to parallel workload (which oftens scales very well).

A program using 2 threads, will be considered multi-threading, and obviously the core I5 would have its advantage in said program.

When nextgen games mention the use of more threads, it is a stage in game-development-transformation.
Game-developers are now trying to be more effecient, by getting the same thing done, using less ressources.

A single core is handling multiple threads, not only a single one. (However without a technology like SMT (hyper-threading), it can only handle 1 at a time, but when then switch, if the threads require something to continue).

I could not imagine a core I5 4690 having issues with games for the next 3-4 years.

Ok :') I made my decision .... and DESPITE ALL YOU PEOPLE SAID , I chose .......

Hahahah ! THANKS ! Thanks to you all for the good recommendations. Now i can get out of my house and start running in the nearest avenue shouting " im an intel fanbooooy ! " 😛 😛 And now i can not worry for future games. So this was kind of a debate and everybody gave me good information so i shouldnt know what solution to pick xD Thanks i'm crying a river nah kidding

It was just a pic about my happy recently purchased 4690 XD
Ok, yeah i feel split so good idea im gonna do something alike, use two coins for the 4 of you
1st coin heads : jdwii & tails : anti-duck . 2nd coin heads : DubbleClick & tails : vmN

So lets flip first .... heads ! lets flip second ... tails !
finalists ( 😛 ) > vmN is heads now and jdwii tails
lets flip again .... TAILS !

jdwii you are the WINNER ! . lol

Thanks everybody ^^
