I am addicted to the new look of windows xp. SO i do not want to change to classic view. However, i would like to increase the speed this thing moves doing normal activities.

WIll an increase in ram speed things up.
Kingston 512 for $59 is calling my name

Specs:

192 ram
Geforce DDR
900mhz Amd Athlon
7200rpm WD
5400rpm Q

Thanks for your replies

Thanks for the info.
Yep my asus board supports 512.
I have the latest chipset drivers.
I do have 80 conductor ribbon
DMA support

I want xp to run like it was in classic mode. I know i have the video. I must have the processor for it. 900mhz. Ram is my low part. 192

So all in all. WIll this make things faster to upgrade that high. Right now i have generic memory. SO that will disappear with new memory.

Thanks for replies and keep them coming!!!

Yes more ram will help speed up xp. Perfect ammount of ram for xp is 512. I run 768 and i have no problems with mem management. Make sure you buy BRAND NAME RAM though. don't go for the generic crap. it will save you at most 10 bucks. go for infinon, crutial, or micron.

for ur snd crd, check out the manufactures web site for new drivers. i run creative platium and xp had drivers for it as they did for everything else! most sound cards should be compatible with xp.

I'm running XP Pro on 256mb of Ram and have had no problems and OS runs Great 512 is good but not really needed!
depends on your Applications of course! Will be adding another 512 in 256mb chips soon but not cause I have to just want to max out the ram in my motherboard before I sell it.

i have the radeon 32mb ddr and xp had drivers for it when i installed it...!! :) works fine so far..haven't done much graphix stuff yet though so i'll have to check that out.

thanx man i'll go dl that tonight, and see how well it worx. hopefully it installs a little easier than ATI's driver for 2000 did.

I will tell you slow, try running p-233 with 96 mb of ram on XP! :)
