Will my RAM work with my motherboard and CPU???

So, I'd like to confirm whether my RAM is compatible with my other components


RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X (2x4gb) 2133mhz

Motherboard: ASRock 980DE3/U3S3

CPU: AMD FX 6300

Note1: The mainboard supports DDR3-2100 MHz DIMMs only when you install a AM3+ cpu to the mainboard.

The FX 6300 is AM3+ so there's no problem there

But, note 2 says: "AMD FX series CPU on this motherboard support up to DDR3 1866 MHz as its standard memory frequency"

And the manual says: "Support DDR3 1866(OC)/1600(OC)/1333/1066/800"

Does this mean that the RAM will not work or that it will just run at a slower rate (and if so, if I don't overclock will it run at 1866 or 1333)???

All depends on your individual 6300, some can run 2133, most all can run 1866 some have trouble above 1600....They are rated at 'up to 1866' and that's at 1 stick per channel.

So, there are 2 out of 4 memory slots on my mobo being used which means a maximum of 1600MHz

If my RAM is 2133MHz, what I want to know is if it will not work or if it will work but at a lower speed - keeping in mind the mobo says: Supports DDR3 1866(OC)/1600(OC)/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory (and I'm not overclocking)???

Basically, will the RAM stop working or just work at a lower speed (or is it more complicated)???

It should just work at a lower speed, either 1600 or 1866

Not straight on this are you saying you already have two sticks of 1600? and you want to add?

No, I'm building a desktop PC and the motherboard has 4 empty slots of which 2 I want to fill with DDR3 RAM

I've changed the RAM I'm going to get to this 1600MHz: http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/vengeance-8gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz8gx3m2a1600c9
and I'm hoping the same principal applies - it will just run at a lower rate

You can probably OC the memory to 2133MHz. Worth a try. If not you should be able to run the memory at 1866MHz or at least 1600MHz.
