Question will notebook start screen display having no ram modules?

a notebook stopped working. The computer is more than a decade
old. The notebook went out in a second. Making overheating
an option. But the computer was not easy to start again. Applying the power on off button
several times made it start again. After a few minutes the computer went
out again. This time it will not start. Nothing happens pressing
the power on button. I have removed the ram modules. Still nothing happens when
pressing the power on button. Will a working notebook start
meaning the start screen will display also if no ram module
and hdd is in the notebook?
I put the hdd in another computer and the
hdd works. Thank you.

It's unlikely that your BIOS would let you past POST without RAM, and so you won't get display. You should still have signs of life even if it proceeds to fail POST, so no power situations are typically caused by a faulty motherboard or power source (battery, though I'm assuming you tried with the AC adapter).

What is the model of your notebook? Have you tried flushing residual power by disconnecting the battery and AC adapter then holding the power button for a few seconds?

supply has a green led. Which still lights. The notebook power on button has a led. It
does not light when the power on button is pressed. Which it
did when the notebook worked. A couple of other non working computers started
working after getting new ram modules. Therefore the ram

If the power button is not lighting at all when it usually lights instantly it's probably not a POST issue. Did you try flushing residual power as I asked previously?

I'm guessing it's motherboard failure. Like I said, if the system is failing to power on at all ("no signs of life") that's usually what it is. Either you can replace the motherboard or take it to a shop that will try performing advanced repair by e.g. soldering on replacement components. A RAM issue would still allow the computer to power on, just not POST.

You could also double check the CMOS battery, but that failing shouldn't have caused the computer to just power off. Maybe take out the motherboard and try running it on a clean non-conductive surface, though an older machine is probably going to make this form of disassembly and breadboarding annoying and risky.
