Will one be able to boot an OS with the new Raspberry Pi4 from the USB 3.0 port using a SSD External Drive? Is Micro SD card required to boot. Thanks in advance!
I do have SSD on my older Pi3 B+, this is supposed to be able to boot from the USB 2.0, I have never been able to get it to boot this method, figured it may be due to SSD manufacturer support, or perhaps I just installed OS wrong onto SSD drive. Any information appreciated!

Thanks for that information Allan. I will take a look at your link and see if I can get the SSD working on my Pi3B+ with the restraints of the USB 2.0 throughput, if it works it will be a nice gain for me compared to running os from the Sd card. Waiting on the 4gig Pi4 to become available for my next project which will free up the other pi for some fun projects. Thanks for the information! Much Appreciated! I really think I may have copied my image wrong or it might be that my SSD is one of the ones known not to work. Will find out in few more hours once I get home.
