power outage is almost daily in my place .. causes my pc to shut off , i usually play games or youtube .. i cant afford a ups , will a surge protector do the job ?

Solution
The power going off does not damage your computer but may corrupt data if being written to a HDD at the time.
It is the power coming back on that can cause damage as there is usually a strong surge as it happens.
The minimum protection you need is a surge protector or unplug the PC when the power goes off and then plug it in again when it is restored.
Hi
No the surge protector will only protect your PC from power surges when the power is restored.
UPS have a battery and circuitry which is used to provide power for a short time while surge protectors do not and is why a UPS is more expensive.

thanks
do power outages damage computers ? do i really need a ups ?
