Will the refresh rate of a monitor effect FPS?

I'm worried. I've a superb Gaming rig for which I have to select a monitor.
This gaming rig could get me 100+ FPS in Crysis like games. But now I just saw something about refresh rate of a monitor
If the refresh rate of a monitor is 60HZ will it effect the FPS and turn the FPS constant at 60FPS?
The current monitor in mind is Samsung P2250 or B2230 also B2233.
The B2233 is 120HZ. But the other two are 60HZ. Explain about the Refresh rate effecting the FPS. :)
(curious to know whether my gaming rig would be a waste)

Refresh rates do NOT affect FPS.

FPS = Frames per Second = How many distinct images a GPU outputs, per second

Refresh Rate = Number of times a screen is capable of DISPLAYING, per second

Hence, if you have a 60Hz moniter, and are outputting 120 FPS, you only actually display 60 frames. Likewise, if you have a 120Hz moniter and 75 FPS, you will output 75 unique frames.

Refresh Rate DOES affect Vsync however, as Vsync caps the maximum number of frames to the moniters refresh rate, so enabling Vsync on a 120Hz moniter would cap FPS at 120 FPS instead of the normal 60.

OK thank you.
